30k mile service

Hi all,

so I reviewed the very helpful service document in the sticky notes but just wanted to confirm that at nearly 30k miles (I’m at 25k miles) that the following major items needs to be addressed:
engine oil and filter
engine air filter
rear transmission fluid
automatic transmission filter and fluid

Reason I wanted to confirm is because the service scheduler on my local dealers webpage doesn’t list most of these services as being required. It’s a rather silly list of items that it lists including changing the remote battery, etc.

tranny fluid change ? seems a bit early. I changed mine out at 60,000 miles (100,000km) ... so happened that I was doing the RMS anyway.

Yes, 30k mile maintenance guide lists engine oil and air filter change, rear diff and transmission oil change.

Interestingly I was told that the only service necessary at 30k miles is oil and filter, engine air filter and transmission service. Everything else is after 40,000 + miles, starting with the differential at 40k, spark plugs at 50k, etc.

It's in the service guide. It's posted in the W213 forum somewhere.

Transmission and diff are AMG only, per the service guide. If your service department is going by the non-AMG 213 list, you need a different service department.

maybe there’s been an update to the guidelines on the intervals?

Another note: for my 2021 wagon, he found that there was a recall bulletin. Under the recall, they replaced a braided fuel line. See the screenshot below from the report. Not sure if this is an issue folks should be on the lookout for.

The next page (use the link to download the pdf, if you haven't) also clearly shows 30k for the transmission fluid change for AMG only. There has been no update. My dealer uses this schedule.

Over the weekend I brought my car in for an oil change and they told me about this recall to replace low pressure fuel line, but need to bring it back when I have time.

@ska597: Your profile says E63s, so the W213 service schedule I attached (with @PeterUbers assistance) is the governing document.

If your dealer tells you something different, print out the document, highlight what you think is required and go ask them. The service schedule is the internal MB service bulletin that is built into MB computer systems. The "B" service has a key battery change listed, so perhaps that is what your service writer is going by.

Just for information, an official Mercedes B SERVICE includes:
• Mercedes-Benz motor oil replacement • Oil filter replacement
• Fluid level checks and corrections
• Tire inflation check and correction
• Cabin dust/combination filter replacement • Brake component inspection
• Brake fluid exchange
• Reset maintenance counter

What is needed at 30K miles is B service + other items. See this post for more detail.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread but a transmission service every 30k? Are you kidding me?

I was looking at a different E43 before I bought mine and I had called a service department to get the history. I was trying to determine if the 60K transmission service had been performed and while talking to the advisor, he mentioned nothing about this being needed every 30k. He told me the differential fluid was every 30k and the transmission service was every 60k.

You mean to tell me that I need to get another transmission service in 8k miles already? I'm at 82k right now and I thought I wouldn't have to worry about that until 120K...

Now I'm worried. I need to look through my service history again. I only saw the transmission service was performed at 60k, not 30k as well. Now I'm worried about the longevity of the car I just bought...

Is there anything special about doing the transmission fluid in this car? With my Lexus LS460, you are supposed to use Tech Stream (dealer software) to make sure the fluid is within a certain temperature range when performing a transmission service. Is there anything I need to be concerned about with this vehicle in regards to a shop doing it correctly?

The transmission service seems to be every 30k miles. Interestingly for me, they did not do the rear differential service during this visit and said it can be done later despite this document stating otherwise. I’m likely to just do the rear differential service and spark plugs early at 40k miles to just get it over with because these services are a hassle to manage.

E43 has V6 engine 276 if i remember. The document above lists transmission service at 60k miles for engine 276.

Yep, the 30k transmission service only applies to the E63.

21 E63S - parts ($340) and labor ($300) - indy mechanic. Also included transfer case fluid change using some spare blue ATF from the 7Gtronic tranny service I did some time back for the 2014 CLS. The tranny pan was an aftermarket OEM supplier part (FEBI) and the tranny fluid was Liqui Moly 1950 ATF which meets MB 236.17.
