2023 E63 delayed response from stop? Sluggish throttle?

Greetings all - i'm on my second year of ownership of my 2023 E63 (nautical blue with brown) and I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this most annoying habit on the car.

I will do my best to describe the issue - i apologize in advance if i am not clarifying enough:
At a full stop, if you turn the wheel (think out of a parallel parking spot, or making a right turn from a stop sign) - the throttle is unbelievably sluggish to the point of hardly any movement for a few seconds and then the car then goes forward. This occurs with either my foot to the floor, or just gently touching the gas pedal. Has anyone else experienced this? i don't think it is just when the engine / transmission is not warmed up yet - but i am unsure if it happens all the time (now that I am trying to recall this issue).

Am i losing my mind? is anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks!

In my experience, that is ESP being proactive and limiting engine power to avoid a spin out if you were to suddenly floor the throttle. I'm assuming you are in Comfort mode and ESP on when this happens. Put ESP in Sport mode and see if it still happens and try Sport+ also. In Comfort mode and with ESP on, it is very conservative. The newer AMGs such as yours have a new dynamics system called AMG DYNAMICS. It has four modes, Basic, Advanced, Pro and Master. Basically it's an extension of ESP. In Comfort mode, AMG DYNAMICS is in Basic mode and that mode is very conservative. I mostly drive around in Individual mode with AMG DYNAMICS in Pro. Set to Pro, I don't have these hesitations at least in my C63S coupe. I'm fairly certain these systems behave largely the same in the E63. I have driven the E63, but pretty much only in Sport+ and higher. Haven't doodled around in one in Comfort mode. Personally, I only use Comfort mode for casual around town driving and long distance highway cruising, otherwise I'm in Individual or Race mode and manual shifting and regularly put ESP in Sport mode if I want to avoid the nannies bogging me down.

Did you seriously mentioned you have nautical blue car with brown yet didn't post pictures ? That is much better than the grey scale combos out there.

Can the ESP mode be set to use the last setting by default when the vehicle starts?

Yes and no. Before AMG DYNAMICS, the ESP mode could be configured in the Individual mode and you could have the car coded to start in Individual mode, so that way yes ESP would be set to whatever it was configured to in Individual mode. Although the only options were ON or SPORT. Turning if off completely can only be done by pressing the ESP button for 3 seconds. With AMG DYNAMICS you can only configure AMG DYNAMICS in Individual mode. The ESP mode which is in addition cannot be configured in Individual mode and has to be changed each time the car is driven via the center console or steering wheel buttons. But as said, the AMG DYNAMICS mode already gives more freedom if it's set to Pro for example even with ESP still fully on.

The intermittent nature that the OP describes is odd, therefore he may consider taking it to the dealership to see us if there is an update to the TCU or the ECU, also he could consider resetting the TCU, countless threads on this form, describing how to simply do that at home.

is it reproducible or intermittent and unpredictable....now that you're paying attention to it?

There are too many variables here. What's the road surface like in each situation, what's the available grip level, tire compound temperature, exact throttle position and rate of throttle application, exact steering angle, etc.? All this gets factored into the ESP algorithm and unless all those variables are exactly the same in each situation it will always seem intermittent.

sure, unless he comes back and says it's constant or easily reproducible in all circumstances. Hence my question

additionally to your point this is all speculation with garbage in garbage out logic on the inter web. A trip to the dealer can confirm all systems are working properly based on higher order logic and testing

cheers

Try the throttle reset/adaptation method.

one step further reset, unplug battery terminal wait few mins and plug back in.

is your car doing this only in comfort or all modes? (S+, race etc)

I've followed this thread out of curiousity. Odd symptom for a practically brand new car. Since the OP hasn't come back with follow up information, I think it's time to start guessing. My guess is that he's a 2 foot driver; he's pressing on the brake pedal with one foot and the accelerator with the other.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but that sounds like start/stop.

Just came across this video that probably explains what's happenning with OP's car:
I don't have that feature in my 18 S63, but it sounds like "Drive Away Assist" is kicking in.

It's certainly a possibility, but Drive Away Assist is characterized by the brakes engaging if trying to drive faster than 1 mph when obstacles are detected and a red triangle is displayed on the center screen in the camera view. I have it in my 2019 C63 and it kicks in most times I'm backing out of my garage until I clear the garage door frame. Never engaged in a parking lot, though, or outside a tight maneuvering situation in general. The obstacles have to be very close for it to engage. There was a report of somebody who had difficulty pulling away from a curb due to Drive Away Assist. That also never happened to me, but it's possible that the system is overreacting in OP's car.

My apologies to all. I need to find dealer paperwork to see what they said they did to fix. The sluggishness is marginally better but still around. Here are pics. Sorry I’ve been off the grid to get back on the forum - had a major family milestone that took all of my focus away! I only have the pics from the dealer when I took delivery. I park outside and it’s pretty dirty currently!

Gorgeous! Thanks and congrats to the milestone mentioned!
