Better transmission is the best part of upgrade, by far IMO. Then better faster revving engine. Then nicer screens and tech (specifically MBUX with 2021+ facelift).

I don't miss these features from the 212:
Leaking CPS sensors
Lower control arms that are disposable
Engine mounts that are near impossible to replace
Turbo coolant lines that crack right on schedule
Bent rods
Misfires
Intercooler pump failures
Pano-creak
Eating spark plus like candy
Wheel Bearings and propeller shaft hangers like they are going out of style

Drive some, and not just around the block. Then decide!
Everything about the newer 213 car is "better". But if you are really focused on the driving experience it may be lacking for some. I'm ok with it, just be aware. Some more pet peaves start here https://mbworld.org/forums/w213-amg/...ml#post8799154
I'm over getting used to the screens and tech, it only took a month or two and I can operate the STUPID haptic thumb things now lol. Even Ferrari has gone to them. So right now we are just doomed. Anyhow,

As far as issues, IMHO the 4.0 is the best most bullet-proof AMG to date.
And as mentioned the transmission is a lot better too.
The tech is not close, the 213 tech and screens are light years ahead.
213 _is_ a much better car. There's just something about the soul.
And there's nothing wrong with that. Just know and be OK with it before making the move.

PS for me it was worth it.
New car in warranty, hassle free AMG driving for the next 6-7 years, with no V8TT E63 on the horizon.
Duh!

yes we are blessed with our V8 TT. I have driven a couple 213 and that’s why I’m in a predicament LOL. I feel like the 212 is more “raw”.

2024 GLE 63 S Coupe 2020 E 63 S
Going from my 212 to my 213 has been great. Although I really liked my M157 engine. I had it tuned from Renntech with the R1 package. Never had any real problems with the car. Never even used the extended MB warranty I purchased. Car was a rocket.

I purchased a 2019 GLE 63S coupe just because of my liking of the M157 engine. I have about 50k miles on that car with zero issues other than the engine mounts just got swapped out under warranty last week. It has the R1 package on it too.

My new 2020 E63 is a whole new animal. The new m177 engine is totally different. The car is 100% stock and it seems very quick in comparison to a stock M157 E63. The launch control is tricky sometimes on the 213. Quite often I have to go through the process a couple times to get it to work. The 212 worked every time when I used it. Might be operator error too. LOL.

The R1 package on a M157 engine is way less expensive than the M177 engine.

Personally I don't like the W212 dash at all. I went for a C218 instead and had a 2016 CLS63 that I loved. The W213 E63 is just a plain better car than the W212 in every way. Transmission is a MASSIVE upgrade, engine is a decent upgrade, interior and infotainment is another MASSIVE upgrade.

Since you are in AZ and seem to be a Renntech guy, I would suggest talking to Rich at Dyno Comp in Scottsdale if you tune your 2020. Renntech was out of his office back in the day. I am in North Phoenix and taking my 2019 E63s there next Monday for a ECU, CPC, and TCU tune. I will report back the changes. If it goes well, I will have them tune my 2014 CLS 63s as well.

Also launch control will not engage unless all systems are up to operating temps.

Absolutely. I have a feeling it will probably get a tune from Dyno Comp as well. I used to own a Taurus SHO and I have a huge thread over there about ownership, mods, ect. People still reference it and correspond with me on it. Hopefully I can provide some type of real world experience here as well across both platforms.

I went from a 2015 E63S to a 2018 E63S. I have no regrets, the 18 is faster, shifts faster, much better tech, drift mode is fun and overall the car feels more premium. The W212 imo is a better looking car, those headlights are gorgeous but the W213 looks more aggressive,

I do miss my W212 sometimes but wouldnt go back after owning it for 4 years and now my W213 for 2 years +.

Both cars were Eurocharged tuned.
