Recent goodwill

If you had any luck, how did you get it? Did you talk to anyone specific?
Also, I’ve been quoted over $7k to fix it. What are some other prices if you had yours fixed out of pocket. (I’m starting to call Indy shops now.)
Thanks for the help (since I’m trying to decide if I keep it or send it down the road.)

several threads discussing cost, as low as $5500; I've read NO threads on anyone getting goodwill coverage, just CPO coverage and third party warranty coverage, $5500 (see first link, was rms and ovs parts and labor):

you can first call mbusa or if you have a good relationship with your SM that would be my first recommendation- ask him (or her) to advocate for you to have it 100% covered; and secondarily heavily discounted . This is also predicated on if you get routine service with this SM's dealership
also have you purchased multiple cars from this dealer?
mbusa has gone downhill in the past few years, they covered total buybacks of two brand new Mercedes of mine in 2014 but they aren't the same customer advocates anymore based on what I'm reading here on mbworld

They cover labor because (1) fundamentally you have contact with a really nice service mgr, but (2) they don't see much of a cost if they have labor slack. MB mechanics don't do piecework. If your spouse bakes, take a gift. Ask around the dealership to see what the SM and SR might like. Be very grateful.
If you feel yourself tearing up in appreciation, let them see it. Non-psychotic people get pleasure helping other people.

RMS seems to be more of an issue in the US, the service manager I deal with says he hasn't seen one in any of the 3 dealerships he covers. (fingers crossed!)
