Time vs Mileage & Service Questions
Greetings,
My 2021 just hit 10K and I have a couple questions. (The delivery date was January of 2022)
The service schedule for 2021 model year lists replace rear diff and trans oil at 3 years/30K miles.
Thanks in advance for any opinions/recommendations.
It's almost time for summer tires for those of us in the north... Can't wait to get the snow shoes off!

- Any opinions on doing it now or at my next B Service in January 2026 given my mileage?
- Any potential warranty impact if I wait?
- If I'm doing the rear, seems like maybe front should be done too?
Thanks in advance for any opinions/recommendations.

This may be worth a read - particularly the section about changing the front differential fluid. In the car in question in this thread below has 11,000 miles. (From the sticky)
The service schedule does not include the front differential - nor did it for the w212 AMG; but it's recommended (usually at 40,000 miles) by dealers (see thread for basic maintenance schedule that seems dealer specific)
https://mbworld.org/forums/w213-amg/...-u-1208dn.html
Regarding the warranty, if there is a fixed interval time or mileage, I would stick to that as close as possible to avoid any warranty issues in the future, practically speaking I don't think you would have any issue waiting till January but if there is an option to do it now Then I would do it now so you don't have to have that conversation about a warranty issue in the future where they scrutinize your service intervals.
ask @Highline-Autos he will tell you

Sticking to the scheduled maintenance is prerequisite for the warranty to stay valid, so follow the scheduled service. The rear differential is an electronic locking differential. The front differential is just a basic open differential, so that's why it doesn't have any requirement to change the fluid. I do my services time based as well, as I only drive about 4000 miles a year. Had new spark plugs done at 5 years as scheduled with about 30k miles and all the transmission and diff services at their scheduled times. It's a piece of mind. Stuff ages whether you drive the car or not.

BTW, how long did it sit around on the lot? The clock starts on the manufacturing date. So being a 2021 it passed the 3 year mark sometime last year. I know some dealerships zero out the service reminder before the customer takes delivery, but that's technically not what they are supposed to do unless they replace all the fluids first, so everything is actually fresh and not already up to 1+ year old. Brake fluid for example absorbs moisture whether the car is driven or not and needs to be flushed at least every 2 years, first one is due 2 years after the manufacturing date, not the delivery date. Things don't magically stop aging and interact with the environment just because the car hadn't been sold yet.

As long as you're with-in the time or mileage you'll be fine. B Service in January 2026 sounds like you'd be with-in the 3 year, so you can wait until then given the 10K miles on the vehicle.

Thanks
Thanks all for the feedback - I was generally headed in that direction and will get it done when the summer wheels/tires go on.
Superswiss: Delivery date on this car was January 27, 2022. I was under the impression that was the date the warranty clock started, but could be wrong. It has extended factory warranty through 7 years/100K. To date, all services have been performed per schedule at MB dealers. It came to me with 3K on the clock.
Peter: I'm attaching the 2021 Service Schedule for the sticky. I have not compared to the 2018 yet, but figured it would be nice to have available.
Have a great day gents; Thanks again.

Getting towards the end of my extended warranty. Had the vehicle serviced at the dealer each year because I had prepaid service. Typically on a few thousand miles driven per year so well under the oil change interval. Switched to a local Mercedes specialist shop near me for the annual service after needed a prescription for hemorrhoid cream following my first paid annual service for basically an oil change and inspection.
Normally I do the oil changes and basic service myself for the rest of my vehicles, but will continue to work with the local shop for annual services for a while as their fee is pretty reasonable compared to the dealership.

This service schedule does not call for the rear diff fluid to be replaced at about 2000 miles, unlike some other service schedules I've seen for the 213 E63 AMG. I did mine myself at 26.5 k miles after seeing the 2k rear diff fluid service requirement. Looked kind of milky coming out and new fluid was entirely clear, yellow gold in color. Would have preferred to do the rear diff earlier. But by this attached service schedule I guess I am still OK. Happy to hear views on this 2k rear diff service "requirement".

My 2019 E63 called for it. The sticker is still on the windshield.

Yeah, the change probably happened with the facelift. I said 2019, because that's when it started with the C63 FL. My 2019 C63S Coupe no longer required it. It was still in the owner's manual, but no more sticker and I even called AMG Germany to confirm, because I was in Europe at the time doing European Delivery. I ended up getting it done anyway at a dealership in Frankfurt as a piece of mind around 3000 km. It was hard to time as I was traveling throughout Europe for 2 months, and never staying in one place long enough, but they were able to squeeze me in.

Appreciate all the info on post facelift E63s no longer needing the 2k rear diff fluid change. So cos I am a 2021 facelifted version, I don't need the 2k rear diff svc. Tell you what though - I did not like the color of what came out when I did it a few mths back (26.5k miles) - milky, like lots of fine particles in it. Would prefer that the factory fill rear diff fluid gets changed out maybe with first oil change to get rid of all that particulate matter.
