Talking to bloke at work this morning he thinks I may have overlooked a simple procedure.
He plays a lot with BMW'S and their systems.
He said it sounds like the correct place where I used the scan tool to change the original setting from Japan to Australia in the radio freq/countries dropdown list.
Then he said did I change the language settings on the actual display screen to English......
Could it be that simple?
Will have a look after work tonight. Fingers crossed.

Will investigate some more over the next few days.

Apart from fixing my radio and text stuff up and then setting to Australian frequency's , I was thinking -
- changing the blinker count,
- remove reverse gong,
- change the nav / maps to Australia
- transmission last mode remember
- update any module software

What are some good / recommended mods to look at?

Is there a coding price list available?

-Enhanced ventilated seats
-Enhanced brake
-Race/Drift mode
-AMG dynamic master and pro mode
-Taillight welcome light illusion
-Last driving mode
-Increase speed when staying in 360 view

PROBLEM SOLVED - sorry for shouting, but i'm so happy.

Bloke at work was right, (see post 27 from this morning), just needed to change the language on the screen, no easy feat when it's in a foreign language.
So held phone up with google translate on to convert to english, twiddled the dial in the setting menu until i found the flag/language screen, the choose english.

YIPPIE, I can read again.

So you'll never guess what I did next.......

Yep, tempted fate, I went back into the scanner settings, found the tuner section again and coded for Australia..

YIPPIE, I have the expanded frequency's that cover us downunder, Japan uses 76-95MHz and we use 88-108MHz.
Took a few minutes to auto find and fill the frequency's into the list, but there all there.

Now that's taken a load off my mind, I can sit back and let my finances recoup a bit then hit up Benzninja for the major coding stuff.

How do i attach pictures in the text, only wants to add them as a link?

Thanks everyone for your support and help, maybe i'm not such an idiot after all.

Congrats, not only are you NOT an idiot, but you are quite resourceful, at sifting through possible solutions, and open to unconventional ideas to problem solve.
All’s well that ends well.
Or as they say in Texas: Oil’s well that ends well.

Hip hip Hooray! Hip hip Hooray!
Love it when someone gets things fixed themselves through DIY means instead of paying the stealership .

I am about to be in a very similar boat I suspect. My car arrives from Japan via South Australia in a few weeks time.

I might reach out to have a chat!
