So I have a 2019 E63s in obsidian black and my father was buffing and waxing it with a machine polisher however, there are some left over marks that you can only see in the sun. Does anyone know how to get them off? Any specific product that worked well? Looks like this on the paint
You need a professional polish job - someone that knows how to use a pro grade polisher and has comfort and professional familiarity with cutting compounds to polish the clear coat.
any $10-20 Amazon product that claims they'll get rid of swirls with just the application of the product is simply junk.
the pic is not an e63 therefore it's not your car - do you have a pic of your car? Or is it as bad as that photo you posted?
I took my car to get the RMS fixed so I won't have it for a while and I forgot to take a picture before I dropped it off. I tried to find a picture of the closest thing to it. It looks like this but it isn't as bad. My dad used to work for a body shop where he would detail the cars and paint correct for years so he knows what he is doing but its been about 10-15 years since then and he's not sure what product to use for the removal of the swirls.
The swirls could be in leftover old product that has not been removed properly
The swirls could be in the new wax/product
The swirls could be in the clearcoat
The swirls could be the paint
What @PeterUbers said, get a pro to look at it and do the work/advise. It could be a simple bad "wax" removal wash, or it could be a complicated day of expert work gingerly cutting the paint. Very difficult to tell from pictures.
My one thought from the pic you posted - all those swirls go out radially from the center of the light. That's not random scratch marks, that's something else. If you are lucky it's wax hazing. Need to see in person!
PS detailers have very bright lights they shine in localized spots while they work to get all the scratches and make the paint look like glass. Again, if you are lucky, it is just hazed product you see in the sun. Good luck let us know what you find out! And go easy on Pops he is just proud and trying to help
Yes I know he is trying his best. I'm not blaming him or anything. I love that he is trying to help me which is why I am trying to help and find the product that could help. I will go ask a pro detailer about it. Thanks for the help guys. I will keep you guys posted but it will most likely be a while before it is solved so I am sorry if I forget.
