The button of a AMG GT fits insides the E/CLS/GT dash without issues.

 

Do you mind posting a side by side comparison, I must be blind but can't tell the difference.

 

Yeah, the button fits, but the question is, does it make it sound like an AMG GT on start-up? Asking for a friend and all that.

Can you confirm if that one glows red? Will it fire up or does it need to be programmed?

 

that one is supposed to glow red. Stock glows white

Looks just like the button on the W222 S class... at least, the 65 flavor.
Red sounds like a much more fun color than boring white.

 

It is emotional. Gets your heart racing. Which is also red. Although quite a muted red.

 

what i wonder is why didn't mb put one of the ambient light modules on the start button.

 

why is there no photo of the button lit up red?!

 

As an option - found this one either on Amazon or eBay...cheap, easy, I like it.

 

I have a red CF in my CLS that I got from MAcarbon years ago, it doesn't glow but is still a fantastic upgrade Wonder if they still make 'em?

 

I bought red tinted sunglasses. When I tire of red, I might go with orange tint.

 

 

because I am not going to test in my car...no one knows if it needs coding and since I do not have anything to code incase it needs it, will not test at this point.

but since it part of the start function (EZS module) it might trigger a no start and worse off, anti-theft and now dead in the water... no thank you.

 

You're half way there! Hook it up and tell us if it'll work! Like the other guy said, it'll either turn on or not. Curious if that one will light up red too, wonder if we have the right part number per the original discussion

 

Can you upload a picture of the electrical connector on the switch?
Don't have WIS/DAs with me, but maybe someone with quick access can look at the pinouts and see if there is data being transferred through any pin on the switch?

 

he's right - he could could brick his car to just try it - not worth it imo

 

Curious why the OP decided to see if the start button would fit, and post about it, if he's not interested in trying it out. Is the OP hoping someone else would volunteer to be the guinea pig and try this out?

Shouldn't take a rocket scientist to look at the wiring diagrams and see if there are just power wires going to the button, or if there is data transfer involved between the button and whatever module.

 

curious as well - though I am someone who has gotten started in a project and then 30% of the way into the project I had a second thought that maybe I'm gonna be causing more trouble than I'll be solving.

 

A recent post in the W463A forum describes replacement of the start switch that had developed a cosmetic defect on the switch's surface. Ask the OP if there was any coding issue.

 

Update on this - guy on facebook did it and it works without coding. Part number 1909054002
