63 Motorsports Billet Catch Can Ownership Post

DO YOU HAVE THE 63 MOTORSPORTS CC'S INSTALLED ON YOUR E63s? PLEASE ADD YOUR YEAR, SET UP, ANY RMS/OVS INFO, WHEN YOU INSTALLED THE CC'S, AND ANY OTHER INFORMATION TO THIS THREAD.

So with all of the RMS/OVS/Gasket issues with the M177 LS2 in our cars, I purchased the 63 Motorsports CC's.

My car is a 2019 E63s.

RMS and Upper oil pan gasket was replaced at 36k miles. OVS were tested and deemed "operational".
Both OVS and a complete right side valve cover seal R&R performed at 46K miles after oil started leaking in a spark plug hole.
Car is tuned: (ECU, CPC, TCU) catless downpipes, Black Boost Gen 2 Intakes, Spool HPFP, runs on E30.
CC's were installed at 46.5K miles.
Car is not a daily driver.

Since my car is tuned, has a newer RMS, brand new OVS (both) I believe I am the best test subject for this, and I will update this thread as I perform maintenance ect.

I purchased the cans and they were sent very quickly. They were wrapped and packaged very well. From my first impressions. The CC's are built really well. All the components are really good quality. I do question the layout of the can itself, and believe a better revision for emptying them could be engineered. I also have my reservations about the one way valve on the bottom vs longevity against leaks.

After reading all of the instructions, I decided that I was not going to get involved with the install, and had a performance shop install them. I asked the tech, who installed them how it went. His response was, they are pretty involved. If you are going to DYI read the instructions and take that how you will.

I also had Black Boost Gen 2 intakes installed while I was there and the car was re-dyno tuned. If you are a Black Boost Gen 2 owner, it does make the install a bit more difficult because the BB intakes take up more physical real estate under the hood. Just keep that in mind. I don't know if it affects the BB Gen 1 intakes, or any other intakes for that matter.

Fitment seems good. I put a piece of rubber between the driver side CC and the front support. I will see if I can work on that later. I also removed the BMC air filter sticker as well.

Feel free to ask questions or comment and I will do to the best of my ability keep everyone informed.

Interesting how you've already have replaced OVS and RMS before installing.

This is what will differ from me to you besides year. Im 2018.
I installed my cans via No replaced OVS + RMS.
  1. I have yet to have any leaks.
  2. Bought car with 52K
  3. Installed cans at 52K
  4. Now at 55K
  5. No leaks
  6. Drained twice so far.

Yep.
I am curious on how your experience will be when it comes time to empty.
They gave you a syringe right? lol

A manual pump oil extractor will save you a lot of frustration as i've already mentioned in other threads about this.

I will keep an eye on this thread as not many are in our position.

I seems we are the complete opposites. That is good. Please update this thread with any information going forward with your set up and findings as well. Knowledge is power.

I remember your remark about draining them on the other thread. I fully understand what you are saying. I got the syringe. My daughter has already deemed it is hers, but I already have an extractor ready to go. She can have it.

Heads up, for anyone considering these catch cans (like me), it appears 63 Motorsports is having a sale starting tomorrow. Hopefully said sale will include the catch cans.

There are various products that are marked down on the website, however the M177 Billet Catch Cans are not as of me replying to this thread.

2019 E63s
2019 E63s installed catch cans at 13,754 miles and currently at 15,304. Original RMS and OVS with no leaks so far.

Have drained cans twice and they do accumulate a good amount oil. Optimistic the catch cans/drains will prevent any future RMS or OVS related issues.
Time will tell,

Nice 2019 means pre facelift model right?

Also how was your experience draining? Did you use the syringe or another method?

Have any pics on the amount of oil in that short mileage?

I use a Duralast brake bleeder (82-011) to remove oil from the cans. Don't have a picture of qty of oil removed, but using the clear cylinder in the picture as reference.
Oil goes up ~ 1/2" in the cylinder per catch can.

Cheers.

My catch cans arrived this weekend! Looking forward to getting them installed soon.

I also wanted to share my experience with Jan at 63 Motorsports, who has provided excellent customer service despite a nearly 2 month delay between me placing an order and the package actually arriving. UPS lost my original package, and due to some manufacturing delays, 63 Motorsports weren't able to send another until recently. Jan understood that RMS failure prevention is something their customers would want sooner than later, kept me updated throughout the process, and even proactively made up for the delay by applying some significant discounts and throwing in a couple freebies. Thank you Jan!

For anyone considering buying the system, now is the time. They have been on sale for a while for $1350 (vs $1600), and they will take an additional 20% off for Black Friday.

Thanks for the heads-up! Just purchased mine. Couldn't resist the additional 20% off the already discounted price. 👍🏻🍻

Question for those of you who've had this installed by a shop: how many hours did they need/charge? I'm getting a variety of estimates, anywhere from 2 all the way up to 7 hours.

Depends on how good the tech doing the work is. I have my work order at home. I will update here on the price, but it wont be a direct comparison because of shop rates ect. I do know installing the cans were a pretty intensive install for catch cans per say.

This is what I was charged for my catch can install. I would probably take about $300 off because of hood struts, and the installation of the Black Boost Intakes. So realistically, I would say $1000 is pretty close and possibly a good representation of what it would cost for them to be installed.

Thanks for sharing @SM105K . Found a performance modding shop that will do it for 1K, glad to know it's a reasonable figure. Now I just gotta hope my RMS doesn't blow between now and next Thursday :P

Sweet. Make sure you post pictures after the install.
