Talking Thinking about selling G80 M3 for ‘19 E63s wagon

Hi all,
pretty new around here. I’m in a dilemma with selling my 2025 m3 xdrive for a 2019 e63s wagon with 14k miles. I wanted to know your guys opinion on it. If I should pull the trigger. Any people who own one? Or went from one?

Why do you want to get rid of the m3?

why do you want an e63S?

check this sticky out and post this question in the w213 amg forum

Because I’ve had two. One was 2022 Xdrive and for the money I thought this is the best car for it. But I’m itching for something different but I wouldn’t mind keeping it, if the e63s wagon isn’t the best idea. I absolutely love the W213. I’ve always wanted one but worried about coming from a 2025 g80. Also I just posted on that forum

2019 E63S Wagon
The pre-facelift (2018-2020) variant of the E63S warrants a test drive on not so great roads... the relatively harsh ride is not for everyone! MB clearly recognized it was a problem as they made a bunch of ride-quality changes for 2021.

I love my 2019 and it would be a 10/10 if the ride was a little more compliant/less boomy in comfort mode... I just switched from summer set of PS4S's on original 20s to my winter 19s (DWS06+ on Rohana RFX2's) and the difference is night and day - so much so that i'm considering ditching the 20s completely and getting a staggered set of 19s for next summer.

I just did my winter swap over (OEM 19s with MO Mich PA4 Alpin) and I'm in a 2021 with a more compliant suspension. Nice comfy ride. I hated my forged OEM 20s for the three season set when they had OEM Pirelli P Zeros summers. Once I switched to Mich Pilot AS4 for my three season set I stopped hating my 20s. So maybe if you're willing to try an all season UHP tire on your OEM 20s, the ride might soften overall just cos of the tire compound. Though I understand you'll still be on the harder 2019 suspension. I think we drive similar condition roads cos I do the northern NJ to the Jersey Shore run several times a week.

Appreciate the suggestion though - the "winter" set is an all season UHP tire as this car is typically used in central NJ with occasional jaunts to PA/NY, so not really dealing with deep snow... But the drop in handling, acceleration & braking performance after swapping is (unsurprisingly) very noticeable, so I think switching to summers but on 19s would get me the best compromise between ride quality, with the additional 8-10% sidewall, and way less of an impact on handling. Perhaps a slight hit with marginally narrower wheels but worth it I think!

2023 E63S Wagon
I did taller tires on the 20's
1) Filled out the wheel well nicely
2) Softened the ride
3) More rubber!
4) Kept the stock 20's look
5) Kept the dry summer tire traction with more compliant ride
6) Aesthetically see #1 - IMHO the 30 series tires on 20" rims look like roller-skates. 21" 30 works, 20" 35 works, to me 20" 30 is just too small for our cars.

A 2019 with 14K miles probably hasn't had the RMS/oil separators replaced. This is an expensive fix if paid for out of pocket.

E63S
I had a G80 M3. It was one of the first ones sold in the US so was RWD. I got rear ended, got the car fixed and moved to e63s Wagon. I love the wagon. The M3 had newer technology and felt much faster, more razor sharp where as the e63 is much more comfortable and has lots of power when you want it but it feels more refined. No regrets here. Wagon suits me better in this climate and with kids

sold it to a buddy and picked up 23 e63s with 5k miles on it..

had to get it wrapped (cars still in the shop)..

i love the v8, but it's def not as fast as my m4... it's just so heavy..

oh, i also called brabus and inquired abt their 800pkg...

they quoted me 40k for parts.. +20k for service.. lol..

the 900 engine wasn't a possibility.. to get this car as fast as the m4, may not be possible..

Dude, if you're looking to trade in your M3 for a wagon, an '19 E63S is a great choice - the 4matic system on that thing can be a beast in the snow, and the S-Class based interior is gonna feel like a night and day upgrade from your current Beemer. Just keep in mind, it's got a lot of complexity and electronics to learn, but I've gotta say, it's worth the hassle.

As someone with a stage 2 e63s (coming up to 4 years of ownership) who was debating on getting rid of it to get a g8x, it comes down to what you want out of the car. I have a friend with an unlocked g80 and sometimes we switch cars - personally I prefer the g8x simply because of the “look” of the car, the newer technology, and the driving feel.

basically, with my g82, i could drop $5k to any random tuner shop.. they'd slap on a dp, unlock ecu, flex fuel, and i'd be putting out around 700whp easy..

i just hit up ptg, and for $5k, i get cpc, tcu, and ecu tune. not sure what the end figure but i don't think over 100whp.

but mercs are cooler i guess :]

Trust me… I know… I’m fully tuned by ptg with their airbox, bov & dp… easily a 8-9 second car if I spent the same money on a g8x….
