Extended CPO warranty expired this year on my 2019 E63s (stg2)
looking to possibly shop for some 3rd party warranty companies (at 40k miles and I keep seeing post about rms…)
Silly question but I was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with a rms claim while being modded? I recently picked up another daily and have been driving the Benz less which now has me worried about potential rms issues in the future especially since I’m near the mileage of most claims.
car gets driven hard but always after temps are warm, oil changes done every 3k miles, no signs yet but just want to know what to expect/game plan for the future considering the rms rate is almost as guaranteed.
I think RMS generally occurs between that 40-60k mileage from what I've seen on the forum (and personally experienced with my E63s). I think the frequent oil changes is a great thing but don't think it will prevent a potential RMS leak.
In my opinion, changing out the oil separators (with the updated part numbers) can prevent the RMS leak.

Yeah I’m expecting it to happen regardless - it’s more so the timing for me (trying to see if I should just revert to stock and ride around till it happens (I can’t stand the car stock though lol)
Wanted to see if anyone had experience with dealing with warranty companies being modded to see if do I need to bother going back to stock considering it’s a known issue on the board
Most warranty companies would look at the cause of the failure when determining the validity of a claim. If you put down pipes on for example and the alternator fails, that is probably not an issue and the alternator would be covered assuming it was a covered part. I could see a warranty company denying RMS and OVS coverage though because of a performance mod or tune that effects the overall operation of the motor. They could say that the tune caused excess crankcase pressure and that was the cause of the failure. The odds of something failing on a modified motor increase exponentially as you add mods and increase HP and their actuaries do not look at this risk when determining the overall risk profile of a specific car. If purchasing an aftermarket warranty I would tell them in advance of any modifications and make sure those are covered as well, but I doubt any credible company would underwrite something like this. Why not just change the OVS units now? If you have no leak at your RMS then consider yourself lucky and just pay the few grand to prevent the problem of leaks from happening. You could also consider installing the 63 Motorsports catch cans and that should remedy the potential problem as well. That is probably what I would do if you are going to do any serious mods.

I've looked into the 63motorsports catchcan, and plan on installing it later on (preferably after the rms/ovs get done). I plan on getting warranty for the car regardless, I guess the main purpose of this post was to see if anyone has had experience going through with a rms claim while being modded and successfully doing so/or if their claim got denied. Realistically I won't know if the rms happens or not till I get signs, which why I was wondering is this something I have to revert back to stock and ride around till it happens/if it even happens anytime soon?

I agree, just sucks that I won't know till it starts showing signs - and having to potentially ride around stock till whenever it happens sounds horrific
Not sure why you would not just update the OVS units now vs waiting for leaks. The RMS is not the problem, it typically fails due to excess pressure or vacuum in the crankcase caused by clogged OVS units.

Considering the cars at 40k miles, and I've been modded since 20k miles - I rather have a full job done. Correct me if I'm wrong but, lets say I do replace the OVS units, whos to say the seals aren't already "bad" even though I don't have full signs of leaks yet? Or am I getting this whole situation wrong, would love some insight! (also because I am going to get warranty for the car regardless, why would I have to spend out of pocket for the ovs units when everything would be covered if covered).
edit: and to my understanding, the seal itself is an updated part as well no? wouldn't it just happen in the future as well even if I replace the ovs units

If you are getting the warranty and it does cover seals and the OVS then I would not do anything but you indicated that you have been and will continue to mod the car. This could be a sticking point for any warranty coverage for these parts.

I won't be further modifying the car (simply put its staying stage2+)
I'm aware alot of warranty will deny claims based off this/ so I figured I got some more insights from other people who/if they had mods while having warranties and going with claims. I've heard from some people I know personally that sometimes it works out of them, and some of them it doesn't. Figured I'd just hear some other peoples experiences
