Wheel Arch Extensions?

Wanted to get some opinions from the group...

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of "Wheel Arch Extensions", the small particular pieces that protect rocks from kicking up on rear fenders?

I've found what looks like factory pieces on ebay (part #s: A2058803524, A2058803624), but on the fence on whether they'd look good on our U.S. spec'd cars.

Curious to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

Mike

I'm putting some serious thought into adding these to my wagon.

Do they just attach with standard push tabs used to hold in the fender liner?

They are mandatory in Europe to prevent cars behind you getting hit by rocks. They look awkward if you ask me. Basically a black piece of plastic sticking out from the fender that looks out of place. Most people in Europe want to remove them as far as I remember. It's similar to the Mercedes coupes requiring those bumperettes on the rear bumper to meet the 5 mph crash regulation that the US insurance lobby pushed on us, so they don't have to pay for minor claims. So Europe has these fender plastic pieces sticking out, and we coupe owners have those bumperettes in the USA. Mercedes is not the only manufacturer that has to have these on their cars, though.

From all of my years living in Europe, I can't recall seeing these on an AMG wagon (probably because the owner removed them...lol).

When I had my Jeep SRT, I saw plenty of owners adding these to their Jeeps and I thought they looked good, even though I never pulled the trigger. Still not 100% on these, and need to do more research.

and yes, those bumperettes do look out of place on the coupes!

Great Idea, I'd try those

Here are flaps someone installed on the front: Splash guards [mud flaps] - MBWorld.org Forums

While I can appreciate the need for front flaps to reduce damage to fenders and prevent mud/rock slingin', I don't think I could bring myself to go that route. But they did look nicely installed!

I can also appreciate what superswiss is saying about the rears standing out, but given my limited research so far, they appear to be marginally "stand-outish".

Soooooo, I pulled the trigger on ebay.

The wait begins (no overnighting parts from Japan Toretto).

My e63s has had mud guards from day 1.

Strangely, I actually kinda like them on mine. With the narrow US plates, the bumper looks a bit plane otherwise.
