CLS63 options
I want to buy a new CLS63 and am trying to figure out what to order. I plan an adding a Renntech tune and the Renntech LSD. In light of this, is there any point in ordering the Performance Package from MB? Does anyone know what the suspension mods are with the PP?
Any thoughts on the carbon ceramic brakes or the B&O stereo upgrade?
Thanks,
Lew

-special order black ash(but no charge, aside from the SPECIAL ORDER CHARGE)
-metallica paint standard
-premium leather standard
-split folding rear seat standard
-rear trunklid spoiler standard!
of course guess the price will be higher too
I've read several places the CC brakes last a long **** time, depending
on track use...
can't comment on the stereo, but for that kind of money I'd need to hear a system..
good luck!

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Yeah, you will definitely need the split folding rear seats if you get the B&O system, which takes over the spare tire compartment and you end up with a very tiny trunk.

if youre doing those mods i wouldnt bother with the performance package. the coolest part is the red brake calipers. especially on a black car.
i have a pp cls63 and the ride is VERY uncomfortable even in comfort(rolls eyes) mode IMO. and the handling isnt good in this car anyway. the stiffer suspension just makes the car more uncomfortrable. id stay away from the PP if youre tuning.

i thought having PP suspension would be miserable, but is not bad at all,
C mode is fine, yeah its not an S class ride but its not bad,
i never really use sport plus for everyday driving when my family is in the car because im sure it will be too tight

obsidian black/ black interior.
pp package
premium package
night view assist
total price i paid was 133k including tax. on June 1st.
was looking for no less than 108k on a trade or no less than 113 private sale.
car has 3k miles on it.
I'm located in Canada so out prices are a fair bit higher than the US.

I'm the same. Coming from a C63, even Sport+ is smooth to me. C is great for city driving but a bit too bouncy at higher speed. If you drive the car aggressively, Sport+ is hardly sufficient so I can't imagine without PP (this car is heavy). The other big argument in favour of PP for me was LSD (just learned that PP in the US doesn't include LSD though).

here in edmonton there are soo many frost heaves expansion cracks ls patchwork and repair work. this makes fr some terrible roads. this car is very harsh fr ride quality. but I'm beginning to hunk mercedes suspensions aren't that great in he beginning. I notice this car just seems
to throw me all about in the cabin kindof like an ocean liner in rough seas. ride was much more compliant in my e60. still very stiff, but somehow a more pleasant ride. and handling was hugely better.

1) There might be cheaper and better option to tune your car - check out SpeedRiven, just to compare...
2) If you are planning to tune, performance package will only give you AMG steering wheel - all the rest will be fixed with tuning. (well, calipers need to be pained as well )
3) Unless you are planning on racing this car, ceramic brakes won't give you much. For 13K you can always upgrade calipers, pads and rotors later.
4) B&O is a great system, but unless you are real music guru, you won't hear much of a difference and, IMHO, 6400$ is steep for this upgrade.
Just my 2c,
Igor.

Personally, I wouldn't get ceramic brakes. For the price of B&O, might as well upgrade the audio system at home. Not sure about warranty issue, but I prefer Quaife LSD rather than the oem LSD. Another thing that is cool but pretty much useless is the nightvision.

but it is 'cool' LOL!!! especially to one who hasn't seen it before...
but I'm sure it serves it's purpose in many situations.....
not so knowledgable about LSD's....
my OEM one is fine enough for my DD'ing....
not a track guy by any means so I couldn't see needing the CC brakes.....besides just for the 'whoh dude' factor
and yeah.....that must be a good stereo......
going aftermarket and having people pull and rearrange stuff wouldn't help me sleep at night....
