I need a benz suspension expert...
Ok guys, I'm not going to waste your time with the options on our cars for lowering. I'm aware of the links, extended links, LoMo, rentech, star. My question is probably geared more so towards the links. Ok, I know our cars (mine 2011 CLS 550 sport package) adjust height while driving, and I also notice when parked my front drops low (sometimes) it drops on the passenger side more when parked, but not all the time. I was told that was a balance feature...(IDK) I'm worried if I get the links and adjust the height to where I want it, it could possibly drop while driving, or when I'm parked. I was told there is a bypass for this on the LoMo. I'm trying to get a no gap drop (not a tuck) and I want to raise to get in to high/steep driveways... No other adjustments or heights are needed... I really didn't want to spend $1,600 unless I have to... Below is the look I'm going for... ANY GUYS WITH EXPERIENCE OR ANY INFO, PLEASE CHIME IN...

The sagging is a slow leak probably nothing to worry about as yet but no doubt sometime in the future youll be replacing that strut. The car does release some air on shut down so the system isnt at high pressure when not running. Lowering links will not have negative effects beyond probably putting your alignment slightly out and causing some unideal tyre wear.

Thanks buddy, I thought nobody would answer.. It doesn't do it all the time... Just sometimes... But I think I want to fix that before lowering the car with links or LoMo... I'm sure I'm looking at $1,000 - $1,500 just for that one side right?

I have a cls55 2006 but its still airmatic right? Mine came like you describe sometomes would sag a not overnight. Lasted 3 years and over 20k miles with me before it finally failed properly. You can get remanufactur3d struts from arnots for my car for like 460 plus 100 core charge. Core charge just means you have to send your old one to them when its off to get the 100 bux back. It shouldnt take a shop more than 1 hr to put it in or you can do it yourself arnots have a video online showing how for e55/cls55 etc. I imagine they much the same all the mercedes share common designs.
id do the lowering and leave it myself until it actually fails. Its hard to diagnose how bad ot is for you over the internet. How bad does it drop and over how long

Might be worth fixing. Id probably run it til its actually broken but that's me (im a mad dog). Im just in hawaii getting all the parts i need for that and other jobs shipped 2 me before i head back to Hawaii. Honestly i dont think using a lomax or whatever will have a overtly detrimental effect on it. Id have thought itd just be shock travel distance impacted.
another tip is if your having trouble getting amswered on the forum try posting on e class forums they more active.

Ok, but what about the height adjustments the car makes on its own while driving. I know the LoMo can cancel the auto adjustments. I'm not sure the links will, unless I'm missing something...lol
I thought about posting in other forums, but I was told I was in the wrong forum everytime I did...lol

The links just lower your car by restricting the range available to the car mechanically. Im not familisr with lomo but if it works like oher lowering modules it adjusts the inputs the computer recieves and fools ot into lowering the car as per your specifications.

Hi, I have a 2011 CLS550 that was my late husbands. I had 4 new tires and an alignment done and a week later the suspension went on the driver side front, then an hour later the whole car had dropped and could not automatically lift it. Had to have it towed to Mercedes. Do you think that the tire shop (was not a Mercedes repair shop) could have damaged my suspension when doing the tire replacement or alignment? My husband had the suspension repaired March 2018 before he passed.

Hi Tweety,
Its hard to say, but the suspension components are relatively self contained and the airlines for the front strut are on the top, not near the bottom where the tyres/alignment is taking place. So while we can't rule that one out, at this stage I wouldn't be toooo suspicious.
Do you know which components where replaced on the suspension? The system is made up of.. 2 front air struts, 2 rear bags, a valveblock and a compressor.
Cheers,
