Thanks for posting the article. Had no idea that Rolex parts are 99% made in house, very rare for any manufacturer. I wonder if the new smart watches will have any impact on Rolex sales.... Doubt it.

Utter BS that it takes a year to make a Rolex. They churn out 1,000,000 watches a year. Maybe from the time the iron ore is extracted from the ground, all he way to the final product delivered to an AD, it's a year. But a year to manufacture? Utterly impossible

A cheap quartz watch will keep better time but a Rolex will generally hold it's value if you take care of it. A friend of mine bought a Rolex Submariner about 10 years ago and he could easily sell it today for what he paid for it.

I was told there is a 4 year wait list to get one of the new Rolex Daytona's in stainless steel. Apparently, Rolex keeps the production low on them as this is their least profitable version of the Daytona. They prefer to sell the two tone or gold versions.

Got to tell you, if I were interested in a chronograph, I would go after an Omega Speedmaster ahead of a Daytona.
