210 Rims On 211

I have my old ssr gt3 rims from by 2002 e55...and would love to put them on my new e500

spoke to Luke and he told me of the 12mm vs 14mm issue

has anyone tackled this and if so what is entailed to make the rims work.

I have done a number of searches on this site and only find rims from 211 being use on 210 applications.

any help would be appreciated.

Why is this a hardware issue? There are many 14mm bolts with the small diameter ball seat head (same as 12mm) in various lengths all over the place. In fact I have a chrome set for sale that I bought in error.

The problem was 211 wheels on 210 cars. I special ordered a set of large ball seat 12mm bolts from Motorsport to mount these on my 210 and all is fine.

Are the GT3s oem Mercedes ball seat style? Let me know if you need the lugs. I will check what length I have. Check to see what you need. Thanks

I have only seen 1 to date but, you can't put a 14mm bolt though a 13mm hole

Luke makes a valid point...

at this point, I could have the holes machined out so the 14 mm bolts would fit in and then if I bought the 12mm headed bolts from driver 55, then the rims would work?

Machining

Hi, Dave.

Theoretically, if it's done by a competent machinist it should work, you're talking about very little material to be removed. I think the issue is that as you remove material you're encroaching on the ball seat. Were it mine I'd take one wheel and a lug bolt to a machine shop and ask them unless you happen upon someone on the forum who's done pretty much what you're asking about.

Good luck and post back up! Enjoy the ride,
Greg

I measured my lug holes last night.

on the my ssr's the hole is 15mm across and the existing lugs from my w210 e55 are 12mm (actually a hair smaller).

this is encouraging. when I get the new car next week, I will be able to pull the lug off and see if it wil make it thru the hole.

if I do need to machine, it won't be too much.

now, where do I buy 14mm lugs with "12mm" heads?

Went to a local parts store today.

was able to buy 14mm conical lugs...they dropped in the holes for my ssr rims with no problems.

will be bolting up the rims on tues night when I get the car.

will keep you all posted.
