Effects of Winter 17" / Summer 19"
Living in the Northeastern part of the country during winter is just he**. Just yesterday I was driving my '05 CLK500 and I tried avoiding a pothole but alas it was way too big to avoid with oncoming traffic and I shredded the right front tire pretty bad. Well now that I'm trying to deal with replacing the tire, thankfully the rim is A-OK, I was thinking about having a winter set of tires and a summer set. The original tires, 17" AMGs, are the ones I am thinking of making my winter set. The set I'm looking at for summer is the Carlsson 2/16 BE, but they are only available in the 19" variety. I'm going to put on the winter tires this week, but I don't plan on making my summer decision too quickly so I have some time. The only issue I foresee with having two different sizes during the year is the speedo calibration. What else am I missing? How bad would 2" be on the calibration? Thanks in advance.

I'm also running two sets of wheels right now. I have the original 18" AMGs on my car right now with Blizzak LM25 snow tires. I'm ordering a set of HRE 840R with PS2 for summer. Being in the Northeast, the weather should allow you to run your winter tires into early to mid May.

I guess since this is a tire rack sponsored section of the forum i'll plug them. If you go to the tire rack page and choose your car, you can shop for wheels. They will give you different size wheel options. If you pick a 19" wheel, the page will give you the appropriate tire size that will match your stock wheel/tire's overall diameter.
