Exclamation What is your preffered tire inflation pressure?

Hey gang,

What is the max cold pressure you keep your tires inflated at .
Would be interesting to post the following:

1) Tire Make
2) Tire Size (Front/Back)
3) Tire sidewall max PSI (tire manufacturer recommendation)
4) Car manufacturer (door sill or owner manual) recommended PSI
5) Your actual tire PSI
6) Do you have in gloves compartment a Tire Pressure Gauge

Hmmm ... interesting. As of today more than 30 views of this post, yet only one forum member bothered to answer.

Somehow surprising for a forum auto.

It is known that 85% of the drivers have no idea what is the ideal tire pressure and 95% of the drivers do not check the tires unless they have a flat.
Yet is a common knowledge that improper tire inflation can have catastrophic consequences.

Every year in N. America more that 20,000 crashes related to improper tire inflation, yet the honorable members of this forum do not think this is a relevant subject.

Kind of sad friends, kind of sad!!!

Would be interesting to post the following:

1) Tire Make Bridgestone Potenza RE01R currently
2) Tire Size (Front/Back) 225/45-17 & 255/40-17
3) Tire sidewall max PSI (tire manufacturer recommendation) 51psi but it is not a recommendation as tire manufacturers do not offer PSI recommendations based on a tire because PSI recommendatyions are based on the vehicle, its' use and its' weight
4) Car manufacturer (door sill or owner manual) recommended PSI 36psi F&R
5) Your actual tire PSI 32psi front 40 psi rear at this time since I haven't changed it since last weekends AutoX
6) Do you have in gloves compartment a Tire Pressure Gauge 3 of them actually

1. Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S
2. 17", 225/45 and 245/40
3. 44 psi?
4. 29 F / 30 R
5. 38 F / 36 R
6. Yes

Question: Does slightly lower air pressure in the rear tires help understeer? Or is this only a concern for race cars?

depends on the weather
in am F/R chassis car having the rear tire pressure set lower than the front helps to reduce understeer

If I run 92Y XL front and 94Y XL rear (Pirelli PZero Nero, 220 treadwear), what would be the recommended pressure to ensure good wear and performance?

I check and adjust my pressure often. Door panel on C Class says 28F, 32R so that's about where I keep it. Tire sidewall max pressures are usually way too high for everyday driving.

I checked and adjusted the pressures yesterday; I keep them at 29F/33R; it says 28/33 on the door panel.
