Help with Lorinser LM6, SL500, Hubcentric Rings

After installing my 19" LM6's and me returning to say they're not in balance, the shop that installed them told me I likely need hubcentric rings. Can anyone edumacate me on exactly what it is that I need wrt ring size and spacing? And where I might find it?

Looks like you bought replicas. Originals shouldn't have that issue.

Dunno. If these are fakes, they're pretty darned good fakes. I don't know how to tell the difference, but these seem pretty authentic to me. And if they don't need spacers or hubcentrics, then why have I read other posts where Lorinser sells the kits with hubcentrics and bolts?

Mike, the wheels I sold you are definitely authentic (you can see the Lorinser stamp on the front and back of the wheels). Have you checked that the wheels sit and torqued right? There's an angle cut into the first few mm of the wheel, they should mate up with the hub. I'm not a wheel expert but feel free to let me know if you have questions.

Thanks for the info Coin! So on an SL500 there should be no hubcentric rings necessary? It should just be a straight fit? Forgive my ignorance on this topic.

They should fit perfectly and no hubcentric rings are necessary. The center bore is designed for MB, if you install them on Audi/VW then yes hubcentric rings are required.

Man I keep getting conflicting information. I called Kartoyz, a Lorinser Authorized dealer in San Jose. The tell me that the rings are necessary, at $75 a pop. I don't want to drop this $$, but I've got a front end that feels out of balance without the hubcentrics in place.

I didn't put any centering rings when I had them on my car. No vibrations and no out of balance issues. Please confirm with Kartoyz if they're going to sell you spacers or centering rings. I'm sorry I can't be of much help.

Coin, when the wheels were on your car was the bore of the hub matched to the hub on your car? In other words, was your hub diameter at 82mm to mate with the inner bore of the wheel? Or was the wheel approximately centered just by virtue of of the lug bolts aligning it?

You got me thinking now. I remembered buying a pair of 7mm Lorinser spacers to clear my H&R coilover. These spacers were hubcentric and fit on the wheel inner bore (probably they reduced the size of wheel inner bore to the size of my hub). That's why I don't recall having centering rings.

Oh sure, ~now~ you telll me! j/k
I don't suppose you still have possession of those spacers, do you?
The Lorinser rings are hubcentric, so they fill both rolls... spacing outward and filling the difference between the hub and inner bore of the wheels.

I have a set of authentic Lorinser RS4's on my E-Class, and I had to make hubcentric rings as the wheels came without them. The center of the wheel was a good bit larger than the hub on the rotor. I would have had serious vibration issues.

I think what you guys are missing is that....

ALL the wheel sets from Lorinser (and lots of other quality manufacturers) use not just a ring, but a hubcentric spacer/plate that fits the inside of the wheel. (BBS for example calls it the "PFS system" Precision Fit System, and that's some of the best quality wheels money can buy). They reason is simple: $$. In the old days when I used to sell a lot of Lorinser product, you had several different part numbers for each chassis car. Each of those part numbers were hubcentric fitment. Now, they make one or two part numbers, and can make them work on multiple Benz vehicles by using the proper plate/spacer. This way they don't have to make so many part numbers and can save lots of $$. Also, Benz cars don't have as much variance in ET between models now as we did years ago. You DO need to have the right "mounting kit" as Lorinser calls it for the right chassis. That should also include some new lub bolts depending on the offset and spacer combo that you are using. You MUST make sure you have the correct ones or you're not safe.
Check the Lorinser website for the correct part numbers on their wheel page. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for hubcentric rings for my RS5's on my E430. My rears rub and I've taken the spacers off and just bolted the wheels on and they seem like they wont rub. Now, where to get the hubcentric hub rings in the correct size that arent $100 each? Anyone know? What are the sizes of the hubcentric ring? Inner and outer? Thanks!
