Nasty pothole

I got these sumitomo HTR pluses about 5 months ago and ran into a nasty pothole a few weeks ago, evidently causing a bubble in the tire. I just got my replacement tire from tirerack and read the warranty... apparently road hazards are not covered under warranty... am i stuck paying for the new tire or can i file it under some type of warranty ???

File a claim with the township or local authority responsible for road maintenance. You might even have to go so far as to bring a small claims action against them. You're lucky that the pothole didn't cause you to lose control and swerve into a tree, leaving you brain injured and forced into a care home for the rest of your life! Yeah, that's the ticket . . . From your Manhattan neighbor!

I could have done better with more time. My wife is from NJ and she told me that she filed a claim in L.I. for damage to two front tires from a pothole. The only haggling was over the useful life of the tire, but she had the receipts for the tires that were less than a year old.

Ah..tires from "Just Tires" has the option of purchasing Road Hazard insurance. I believe its 10% of the value of the tires. It covers things like this.

For people that have ultra-low profiles or expensive tires, its something great to have, because they will replace the tires with the same or equal performance tires.
