How do you ship tires and how much to charge for domestic US shipping?

How do you ship tires and how much to charge for domestic US shipping?
I've never shipped tires before. I want to put two up for sale, but don't know how to ship them (in boxes?) and how much shipping generally runs. I'm in Chicago, so I would guess flat rate to both coasts would be fine.

Don't know about the price, but you could usually ship the tires as is. Slap a UPS label on them and they are good to go. If you want to protect the sidewalls a bit you could cut out a round piece of cardboard and tape it.

They can be shipped loose. If it is two tires, you can band them together (which UPS can do for you), and it may be a little cheaper to ship them. Otherwise, as an average I've found shipping from Chicago to Texas, California, Florida to average about $35 per tire. But it also depends on width, weight, and diameter as to what the cost ultimately is.

if it's just tires, band them or tape them together. if it's rims and tires, cut some small bubblewrap and cardboard in a circle the size of the rims, to protect the faces, and shrink wrap the entire wheel.

I just shipped a tire today. It was a 255/50/20 from my Range Rover. The cheapest was USPS. I literally just rolled it into the post office and slapped a label on it. From Maryland to Phoenix, AZ was $39.00, Parcel Post.
