Stock Pilot Sports - Treadwear is Horrible
I posted in the CLK section regarding others' experiences with the treadwear. My back 2 tires are virtually gone with only 8,500 miles on the clock. Any recommendations on new tires? I'm looking at the Yokohama AVS ES100s.
My front 2 tires have substantial tread left, but should I go ahead and buy 4 of these Yokohama's? The price of 2 new Pilot Sports and 4 of these ES100s is the same. Thanks!

maybe you should stop burning out?
It's not the tire's fault that some cars have more torque than traction.Be happy that they lasted as long as they did.

depends on the weather
many times people think that a higher treadwear number means that the tires will last longer but, that is not always the case.
All tire companies must perform the same test to determine the tire UTQG ratings but, the wear portion of the test is interpreted by each company individually ...... so, a 220 form Michelin is not the same as a 220 from any other company .... I think you will find that the ES100's will wear out faster than the Michelins. I would advise you to get 2 rear Michelins to maximize the tread life of the front tires and alter your driving style if you really want longer tread life in your tires

Thank you for your response Luke. My only qualm with the Michelins is the price per mile...4 new ES100s every 10k miles would only be ~430, and not ~800 like the Pilot Sports. I guess I must be driving more aggresively than the average person for my tires to be worn out this quickly.
Does Tirerack have any specials going on with the Pilot Sports? Maybe for a loyal MBWorld member & Tirerack customer?
Also, do you have any future recommendations for longer treadlife tires that still provide adequate handling? I'm a strictly street driver that doesn't need to corner at 100 mph

I second the vote for Pilot A/S. They are a very good comprimise between wear and grip.
If you want some tires that get smooth real quick try some Pirelli PZero Asimetricos. Just thinking about taking a corner fast causes them to heat up.
