Eagle F-1 GS-D3 vs. Yoko AVS ES 100

Curious as to opinions on these? The Goodyear is rated #1 on Tirerack, the Yoko, on down the line in the same category, but the numbers aren't that much different. Are the Eagles worth the extra $50 per tire? ($157 vs. $107). I know you always get what you pay for, but if the difference is negligible, I'll save the $200.

I've heard those ES100s are very loud. Other than that they should be fine, specially since I don't like Good Year tires.

I will confirm this fact... the ES100s are louder than they really need to be...

it almost sounds like an off-road tire... well, not that loud, that would be the Yoko A520 tires... the ES100s are very good tires, but yes, they are a little loud.

But, if you close the windows and have the stereo running, even at a fairly low level, you won't hear it.... but don't think about cruzin with the windows open and expect it to be quiet...

depends on the weather
is an apple better than an orange ????

the Eagle F1 GS-D3 is a true maximum performance tire while the AVS ES100 is an Ultra high performance tire ...... Max Performance tires are significantly better than UHP tires

Luke,

I guess my concern is that with Max Preformance tires, I'll burn them up faster than with UHP's-and spend an extra $200 for the privilege! I've gotten 24,000 (which I am happy with) out of my Conti Sport Contact II's, can I expect the same with the F-1's?

I gotta get something new before I head to the USGP in a few weeks (BTW-I'm originally from New Castle, IN).

Well Luke, I cheaped out and got the Yoko's. Haven't driven them hard yet, but they are a significant improvement over my Conti's-much more connected and precise.

But I have to tell you my 'ordeal' with your installer:

First, I get there and their are no bays open. So he has to move his yellow Diablo (10th place car in the '02 TireRack Cannonball). Then, when he pulls my car in, it's nose to nose with the red, white and blue Diablo VT (9th place car in the '03 TireRack Cannonball). Then of course, I'm worried about the purple Diablo on the lift to the left, or the Ferrari to the lift on the right falling on my car or something. I mean, can't you guys find installers that know anything about cars?

Of course, Karl was great! He mounted my tires personally, and we had a chance to talk for a minute afterwards-I don't know if you met him during the Cannonball, but he's a really nice guy, and a true car nut.

I bet at most shops you go to your car is one of the nicest ... but, not there .... and yes I did meet Karl when he was here earlier this year for the 1-lap but, he wasn't overly talkative and happy since he slapped a wall earlier that day in the red white and blue Lambo
