17x8.5 w/ +30 offset wheels up front...

Are there any issues with running a 17x8.5 wheel up front?

Anybody ever installed their rear wheels in front or had 17x8.5 wheels all around?

I'm talking about OE AMG wheels with specifications of 17x8.5 w/ +30 offset.... which is typically the rear wheel.

I'm just a little concerned about the offset... with that offset, will I have any clearance problems with my front fenders? The rear fenders will obviously be fine...

The reason I ask is because I was considering keeping one of my rear wheels as a spare so it looks more uniform with my 19s in case i get a flat... I know I could use the 17x7.5 wheel, but, the rear wheel has a better looking lip... hehehe stupid reason, i know...

Thanks guys...

Stats for comparison....

Here are some comparison stats:

WHEEL A 17x7.5 w/+37 offset - stock front
WHEEL B 17x8.5 w/+30 offset - stock rear
WHEEL C 17/18/19x8.5 w/+35 offset - imaginary wheel

ok, if we upgrade from WHEEL A to WHEEL C, I should have no problems since the recommended offset for aftermarket wheels is +35mm

Comparing WHEEL B with WHEEL C, WHEEL B will only stick out an additional 5mm.... Do you think this extra 5mm will cause any fender contact?

Btw, my car is lowered an overall of 2"....

I'm also confused.

How is offset measured?

What does the 35mm mean?

Okay. I think I'm starting to get it.

If I'm facing the wheel with the outside facing my left and the inside facing my right. Are you saying a 35mm offset means the hub is 35mm to the right of the center of the wheel? Or is it to the left of the center of the wheel?

if the offset is +35, then it will be sticking OUT past the center 35mm...

Check the tirerack website if you need more information about how offsets are measured.... www.tirerack.com

it's not like you could ... your guys didn't play anybody with a defense all year .......

on to the question

35-37 would be closer to optimal but, I know 32 fits so, it will be very close to the limits but still should work fine ....... I have even seen 25mm on a CLK

had to make you sweat a little

Hey, Gateway offered $31 Million to play one last match, so the opportunity was there... but, alas, the NCAA said no... yes, ya'll had a better schedule, but its not our fault the rest of the Pac-10 was having a bad year... buy hey, we beat Michigan, right? they are no easy team by any means...

but thanks for answering the question... My thoughts were that it would fit, but would be pushing it pretty close... I just wanted someone to confirm it or otherwise...

Thanks!
