Tire Advice

I need some advice. I want to get tires that provide the most dry traction without going to dot approved drag radials. I want to stay with my stock AMG rims. I have heard that BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD are the way to go. However, based on Tire Racks website the rear size for these tires comes in only 265 35 and 295 35 for 18 inch. I don't think the 295s will fit. I would like to put on 275 or 285 as I believe that they will fit and provide a wider stance than the stock 265s. Questions, are there any other tires that compare for tire traction and come in 275 or 285, 35 18s?

Real Cars
Bridgestone makes an S03 in 275/35/18. I've driven cars with those tires before and they provide great traction in dry and wet, only downside seems to be they wear fairly quickly and are pricey for tires that do so.

Thanks for the input. I am a little disappointed in the lack of responses. I think I will go with Michelin Pilot Sports. But I am still deciding.
Thanks again

Saber, did you check the tire forum?
The S 03 and Goodyear GS D3 seem to be getting good ink.

No, I will do that now. Thanks for the input. Hopefully, more will respond with real world experience with the E55.

Thanks

Saber,
I have used the Bridgestone S-03's in the 285/30-19 size and was pleased with the dry traction they provided. I am currently using Potenza RE 050's trying to get better traction (lower wear factor number) and have so far done a little better 60' times (1.835 vs. 1.889).

James,
Thanks for the input. Apparently, Bridgestone is the only 285 30 19 available at the moment. The Michelin Pilot Sports have been replace by the PS2 but are not yet available. That leaves the S-03 or the RE050. I will go with the RE 050 based on your information.

Thanks again

I put S-03's on my BMW 540i 6 sp. and got 6,000 miles before they wore down to the "wear bars". Also, they "track" like crazy. Follow every groove in the pavement. You'd better keep both hands on the steering wheel at all times. Would I buy them again? NO. I have had Michilen Pilot Sports on another car and found them to be a far better choice.

I do wish the Pilot Sports were still available. Only recourse is to wait for the Pilot Sport PS2s to be available in the sizes I need.
