HELP PLEASE!: Dull Wheels
My wheels are diamond cut, with a chromed lip and I guess it is clear coated. After I applied some wheel cleaner on them (stupidly! ) and rinsed it off, the wheels suddenly lost their previous lustre and areas that used to be smooth like bare metal now look like their painted i.e. with a bit of bumpiness on them and the lips now look like they've got fine hairline scratches all over them......N.B. those weren't there before. I'm guessing the chemicals of the wheel cleaner have eaten into the clear coat and the scratches on the lip are where I wiped them when the clear coat was weakened.
I've tried a metal polish ("Brasso") on the spokes to smoothen surface and that seemed to improve it but the lips still have the fine hairline scratches all over them...........
Does anyone have a way of restoring the wheels previous lustre, PLEASE?

It was inevitable Dave,,they will get those small surface scratches and you can bring back lustre with p21s surface restorer, comes in a tube.Dont use regular metal polish,,too abrasive. Then put some wheel wax,,,or carnauba to fill them,,,they will fade but still be there.

Thanks for the prompt reply bro. Yeah I know the hairline scratches will be there with washing but there's so much it's created a hazy surface on the clear coat (only with the light at a certain angle.....but it bugs me cuz he wasn't there before - dang wheel cleaner! Turtle Wax should be shot!). Will try look for some P21s (any alternatives in case they don't sell it where I am?).......I suppose I couldn't avoid the stuff afterall
Thanks bro.
Thanks bro.

I see you're also using the Porterfield brake pads, like some others including myself have found to be quite effective and better suited for a variety of reasons.
