Question I Need New Tires: Michelin Pilots Sports or Yokohama AVS ES100?

I need to get a new set of tires for my stock 17" AMG Wheels on my 2002 CLK 430.

The current tires (Michelin Pilots) have 18,800 miles on them and are ready for retirement. I was shopping around and the price is a big factor between the two.

Michelin REAR = $192 each

Yoko AVS ES100 = $130 each

Michelin FRONT = $170 each

Yoko AVS ES100 = $112 each.

Which brand is better? Help!

Not much contest here...

the Michelin is superior, but costs substantially more. If you're looking for the Michelin, just make sure you avoid the Pilot A/S and get the pilot sport 2. The A/S has the right pull problem that Michelin denies. The Yokos are not bad, by the way. If cost was no object, i'd definetly take the Michelins. The Yokos dont ride quite as well, won't last quite as long, and are noisier, but not a lot. But, as with most things in life, money usually is an object....

I have the Yokos on my 430. 18 x 9's and they are pretty loud. I would go a little more expensive next time to avoid the noise. And I do mean loud..

No prob. The only thing I can say is, if you don't mind the noise, the composition is pretty good and tread life has been great.

Good luck!

What is this problem? I have them on my car, and I love the tires.
