BBS LM 19" question.

I was looking at ordering BBS LM's for my 99CLK 430 and the company I was buying them from said that BBS does not make a 19x9.5 for my car and reccomended 8.5's all around. I saw Tire Rack does show 9.5 for the rear available, can anyone confirm?

They do have a 9.5 for the rear. Sleestack and Vic55 both have the 8.5 F and 9.5 R.

What's the name of that company you were trying to buy these wheels from?

Here is a pic:

8.5's and 9.5's et 32 with S03's. On the CLK I think youll have to go with 265x30x19's in the rear instead of 275x30x19's.

With shipping I paid $3700 for a set of 19" x 8.5" and 19" x 9.5". Despite the fact that I had my fenders rolled, I don't think I can go wider than 265/30/19 in the rear. I love the rims, however, keep in mind that with such low profile tires, you need to be careful. I'm not sure about the roads where you live, but if they are not good, I wouldn't suggest the LMs.

Thanks for the advice. The roads here in Austin are OK, but I would have to be carefull. I have never had 19"s so I am a little worried. How about 18" Brabus Mono VI? Do you think those could handle rough roads better?

Thanks,

Rich

I used to live in Austin. I think 19s will be fine there. The Brabus Vi and the LM will handle them about the same. You just need to watch out for potholes.

Thanks , I really appreciate the info. I really have no clue since I have never had anything bigger than 17." 19's look so damn good! So what are your preferences Peter. LM's, VI's or LM5's?

Hmmmm...that's a damn hard call. Those are among my top 5 for Mercedes. LMs are a little cheaper and are forged (lightweight). Brabus VI and Lorinser LM5 are more expensive and heavier, but are great looking wheels.

What is your budget? e-mail/call me and we can discuss...

I had 18" Brabus Monoblock V Multipiece rims before the LMs. The weight really makes a difference if you care about performance. Those Brabus rims are are each 12lbs heavier (and they were 18" v. 19" LMs). Just my experience.

go with the FORGED wheel!!!! forged or nothing!

i like to think of that Volk japanglish wheel ad, "no-fat chrome wheel"... no-fat cast wheel.

most bbs are cast, a version of RC is forged and so are LM's. there are several different type of LM's, i have no clue about the difference.

RickyG, why don't you check out those HRE's.

a forged wheel is cut from a solid block of aluminum which is forged from usually 6061 T6 grade. Cast wheels are alumunim alloy which is molten and the poured into a mold, cooled, and then cleaned up and finished. The other metals added to the aluminum alloy make it stronger buy heavy.
