What is the difference on Carlsson Wheels

What is the difference between the standard, brilliant, and diamond edition of the Carlsson wheels? I understand the brilliant edition is no longer available.

Thanks,

David

Standard is called Alurad Edition, this is the one that is no longer available (except from me ). It has a painted silver finish with machined lip.

Brilliant Edition is still available. It has painted silver finish with polished lip.

Diamond Edition looks pretty close to brushed aluminum.

Yup. In the AMG wheels range but not as heavy as Brabus. The only light-weight Carlsson wheel is the 1/16 ultra-light.

Do you know of, or have you been in, any W211s with PSS9s? Are they much stiffer than normal Bilsteins? Do they work with the Eibach Bars (which appear to be the only aftermarket bars available). Interest is for street use...car will never see a race track (have other cars for that).

Thanks,

David

I have never sat on a W211 with PSS-9. I have heard a friend who has installed the PSS-9 on a E320 in Taiwan. This friend also owns a W203 with PSS-9. He said the PSS-9 for the W211 is slightly softer than the PSS-9 for the W203. He doesnt think it has to do with the suspension though, but rather the chassis of the car. I have tried PSS-9 and Carlsson RS-sport on my 32, I think the PSS-9 is a tad stiffer. Neither suspension has given me an unbearable ride. If your goal is to improve the handling of your W211 drastically, yes, PSS-9 is THE answer. If you just want to improve the handling moderately, maybe you should get a set of Renntech or Brabus springs.

Cant answer whether they will work with Eibach sway bars because I have not had/heard any experience with it. Dont want to comment on something that I dont know.

From my test drives it seems to me that the shocks were not digressive enough for US streets. A little soft in low frequencies and a bit too stiff in higher frequencies. The springs seemed ok. Overall the car seemed to understeer a little and roll a bit. The understeer could be caused by suspension geometry, incorrect or inadequate tire pressures, and to some extent, low frequency shock tuning.

My experiences with Bilsteins on my '94 Supra Twin Turbo and my race car are that they solve these problems. With S03s my Supra is only a little stiffer than our BMW 530 (non-sport) was with Conti TouringContacts. It is always controlled, and absorbs sharp jolts like train tracks and expansion joints. The race car rides like a Cadillac, but always with a high degree of control. Bumps that upset the car with the Carerra twin tube (threaded aluminum body) shocks aren't even felt.

Can you get the PSS9s? Can you get the Be5-6905/BE3-6906 shock package? I'm not looking for a race car. Just the equivalent of a BMW E39.
