99 E320 rim fit help

Saw this FS on Benzworld and wondering if it would fit my model.
Seller says 5-112 and staggered 17" ET37 rear and 17" ET34 in front.
What else should I be asking? It is off an 05 C230K.

Otherwise, I'll just stick with plain old AMG 170 which I can find locally.

depends on the weather
wheels will fit fine but, the tires are a little too short for your E320 .... the tire size you need is 235/45-17 front and 255/40-17 rear

what a dunce. i was so focused on the rims I didn't consider the tire size diff. thanks, Luke. I appreciate the help you've given on the various MB boards re tires/rims!!! I'm still wading through them trying to figure out design and the right 'look' for my car....and learning much at the same time. In the end, i may just call TireRack and end the pain in trying to find one locally. Thanks again! raymond-

Luke,

I am curious - beyond the tires why would it fit when his car is a 99 and this wheels are off an 05. I thought there were some 112 vs 114 and seat lug issues involved with fitting 03 and newer wheels to 02 and older cars. Or did this problem only apply to E class cars. Let me know because I want to buy 17" 04 E class wheel (tires from tirerack of course) and install it to my 98 E class which has stock 16" wheels.

well ..... all of the E-class cars before the w211 chasssis used 12mm lughardware and the w211 uses 14mm lughardware .... the wheel he is looking at are off of a 2005 C-Class which uses 12mm lughardware

Aaaahhhhh!!! So the C uses 12 mm lug bolts. That makes the difference!!

Does tirerack sell 12 mm lug bolts by the way? If it does not, can you recommend a website / place / retailer that offers a rather large aray of lug bolts. thanks luke.

here is a really crude picture of the problem caused by the lughardware incompatibility

You are absolutely head-on correct on this one luke (pardon the pun)!!

Your illustration, clearly only shows the simple solution to the problem. And the solution screams at us in the face - find a custom lug bolt with a "larger seat" that would be practically equivalent to a 14 mm bolt but and still have 12 mm threads. That would solve the "seating" problem. As for the 12 mm bolt, using that thread does not necessary weaken the structure of your wheel - hub connection. That is not so complicated is it not? Surely, some enterprising wheel maker in the great United States makes this already.

The challenge is to find it. Any suggestions...!?

but see while the solution is simple in theory it is not currently available and is rather expensive to have them custom made by a machine shop as some have done (over $500 per set of 20 lug bolts) .... what they do is take a 14mm lug bolt and turn the threaded end down to 12mm and re-tap the threads that way they have the 14mm radius ball seat .... and the main reason it is not readily available is that most wheels use cone seats not ball seats. Mercedes is one of the few companies that does use them
