ContiExtremeContact Spliting??

Luke or anyone....

I was swapping my all-season to my winter tires when one of my Conti's has multiple splits on the inner sidewall.
The tires I have all around are the Continental ContiExtremeContact Size: 235/40WR18 Blackwall
WR Speed Rated.

All of the other tires are fine. The splits are all the way to the next layer of the tire and are all the exact same type of split. I though it might be somethign else, maybe damage from the road, but none of the other tires have this and the split are not perfectly straight as if a knife or other sharp object.

Anyone ever experience this??? It's got me concerned. I know I didn't get the Road Hazard gauruntee but something like this is not supposed to happen to a tire on it's own. The tires have exactly 20,000 on them with a lot of highway and not over or under inflated...

I'll try to take a picture this week...

man.....better call who you got them from and see if they will cover that under warranty. I wouldn't want to have a blow out! Good luck!

I bought them from TireRack. I've bought all my tires from TireRack.

Here are the pictures guys I stated I was going to take. These series also has a picture of the amount of tread still left on the tire and the tread pattern being fairly even all around. These tires have traveled 20,000 miles.

Please tell me Luke if anything can be done via PM.

The last photos has a picture of the other rear tire on the opposite side obviously for comparison.

depends on the weather
first impression .... it looks as if the tire was run low on pressure or overloaded but, if that's not the case it would be a warrantable defect .... but, either way that tire should be taken out of service

Who should I contact to make the claim? Do I go through TireRack or Continental?
