W211 Stock wheels on a W210

Does anybody know if the stock 16" wheels from a W211 fit a W210? Same offset?

Thanks.

Its not the length of the bolts. Its the diameter of the bolts. W211 uses 14mm bolts, W210 uses 12mm.

I have 12mm bolts with big head. :p

Actually, I am thinking about selling these chrome wheels for bigger wheels.

If you are interested, let me know.

Benchang,

I have a few questions:

1) Are your bolts already cut for the W211 wheels on a W210 car?
2) Have you actually compared the head size of your bolts to an OEM W211 bolt head?
3) Are the heads the same size (with 12mm threads)?
4) Did you have these custom made or special ordered?

I don't know if we had spoken (or written) to each other before but I might be interested in getting those bolts depending on the answers to the above questions and the price per bolt. I am FULLY AWARE of the entire issue of the W211 (14mm) vs W210 bolts (12mm) and the head size, thread size, and thread length issues. Luke and I have traded emails on this issue before and I have considered many avenues to find a solution to this matter.

Get in touch with me and let's see what we can agree on.

Luke,

I totally agree with you and would not risk putting a smaller head (WR12) when it needs a larger head (WR14). Actually, I found a merchant who could order me me a set of original bolts with 12mm threads and have the larger head typically found in 14mm bolts and I already put in an order for a set of 25 (includes 5 spares). These bolts were ordered and are made in Germany with MB approved dacromet coated specs, however, they could only order sets of 250 pieces from Germany and since I only need 25 then I would have to wait.

Therefore, if anyone else out there is interested in getting large-head bolts for with 12 mm threads that effectively solves the W211 wheels for W210 cars, let me know. Cost per bolt is relatively cheap...

Hi, Paxfo,

I got your PM and email!
If I am not wrong, we have discussed something on W210 forum once.
I read a lot of your posts.

Yes, I did install the W211 wheels on my W210 with 12mm bigger head bolts.
But, I do not have chance to compare both W211 and W210 bolts.
The shop ordered them and installed for me.
Unforturely, the store was close. Maybe moved to somewhere.

I don't know if you can wait.
I am thinking about selling the W211 wheels, if the new owner doesn't need those bolts. I can give you those bolts.

Ben

By the way, I just took picture from the bolts.
The longer one is for the rear wheel, because I put spacer.
I hope it help!

BC,

Thanks for your response. I really could not tell from the pictures you posted the differences in head size. However, to give you an idea and a clearer picture, click on the link above for previous forum discussions about this and a picture I poste of original W210 bolt (left) and W211 bolt (right) that I bought from the dealer. It will show the clear difference between the two head sizes, and of course the different thread sizes and lengths as well as the "ball" type feature of the heads. These are dacromet coated which is supposedly stronger than regular chrome coatings.

According to my research the W211 bolt is a 14mm threads with a large headsize of WR14, while the W210 bolt has 12mm threads with a regular headsize of WR12. I did a lot of research for months and it was impossible to find 12mm threads with large WR14 heads, until I found that shop that actually sold OEM german made bolts.

Let me know what you have and see if it is close to what these pictures show. And for anyone else interested out there for these bolts to fit W211 wheels into W210 cars let me know...

Thanks for keeping in touch.

They are 12mm with bigger head (WR14?).

Luke,

Pure-motorsports.com claims to be able to get them (www.pure-motorsports.com, which by the way, are a sponsor of the mbworld.org.) According to Michael Kim who I spoke with on the phone, he can order them from Germany but they will come in a shaft length a little longer than what I need.

If you do not believe me call him at (951) 302-0933 and tell him Paul referred you to him. He needs a 250 bolt order to get the the order sent from Germany and I would be glad if people can put in orders - including you of course.

As I promised I will seek the solution to this W211 / W210 issue at it seems the solution is just an order away.... let us see.

For Info

I just mounted 2003 E500 rims on my 97 E320 yesterday with special bolts. They were 17 by 8 rims with 245/45/17 tires. Mounted just fine, no problems. No rubbing, but I will put 235/40/17 front tires for better clearance.

My problem was w211 rims on w210 car. my 97 E320 uses 12mm x 1.5 threads, while the w211 rims take 14mm x 1.5 threads. Therefore special bolts needed to mount. They are 14mm ball seat with 12mm threads. However, they are $8 each.. costly, but very happy with the rims.

Anyway, I'm a new member too. I don't know if I can post the business contact on here, but you can email me if you are a member. That was how I done it previously to track down these bolts. I'm just a user, so don't email for other info.

112 mm thread on a 114 mm head

I said it before and I will say it again www.pure-motorsports.com, sells bolts that can be used for W211 wheels on W210 cars. I received my bolts from Michael Kim a few months ago and so did other forum members who ordered per my suggestion. They are not custom made like many may thing and are made by RAD in Germany, which also makes other Mercedes bolts. Since these were ordered from Germany (with dacrome coating and meets all the MB standards) it took a few weeks. I have them already.

If you do not believe me call Michael at (951) 302-0933 and tell him Paul referred you to him.

As I promised I will found the solution to this W211 / W210 issue and all it needed was some research.
