AMG Celebrates 45 Years of Awesome With SLS GT3
Unlike the Porsche though, this is a bonafide racer restricted to track use only. And, since it’s a limited edition, Mercedes will only be making five of them for $578,530 each. In defense of that high price, the cars hand delivered to their owners by Mercedes’ DTM star Bernd Schneider. That should be a treat to fans.
Since this is basically a race car, the biggest changes are to the aerodynamics. It’s also significantly lighter and less luxurious. But that doesn’t mean that it’s roughly finished. The exterior gets a special coating of Designo Magno Gaphite matte paint that extends to the wheels and the roll cage. Most visible surfaces are made of lovely matte carbon fiber weave. There’s even a “1 of 5” badge on the center stack to remind you of exactly how rare your car is.
Race cars aren’t the only way that AMG celebrating their anniversary. Both the CLA and A-Class AMG models have names that reference their heritage too. Those two areĀ a little bit more reasonable to purchase, but not quite as lust worthy.
