I'm thinking about doing 3000k fogs and 4300k headlights, I know this question has been asked before but if anyone else have even 4300k fogs and 6000k headlights, can you post some pix.

Here are pix off 3000k and headlights is unknown but looks like 6000k. I kind of like it actually.

Great info in this thread, thank you.

I'm going to be installing this kit: http://www.sharphid.com/aug08sale.htm in my wife's '04 E320 today. I got the 55W ballast 4500K (H7) bulbs combo with the warning eliminator. I think you could fit them in the housing if you were creative; not going to though. The ballasts measure 2.5" x 4.25" x 5/8".

I'll let you know how things go with an edit to this post.

Update:
The kit looks great. My wife even said it looked like daylight outside. I did, however, need to modify the bulb holders in this kit. The stock metal ones from the halogen bulbs will not work. I can go into greater detail if needed, just ask.

So I finally got my HID Kit from Ebay. Everything looks fine and all, but i have one problem. As you guys can see, the bulbs came with "round" shaped ends (where the wires come out) unlike most of yours "rectangular" shaped ends. How will I be able to fit the bulbs into the metal retainer clips? Will I have to contact the seller and try to get a different set? First 3 Pictures are my bulbs. The 4th one is HealthService's (Allen). Please note the red circles. Thanks,

Mine were actually round like that as well, but mine came with their own bulb holder. I don't think you'll have a problem if you can get the metal bulb holder over the bulb.

They sell a warning eliminator kit for $40. As of right now though my passenger side is giving me the flicker and the warning. They sent me a new eliminator(basically a plug and play capacitor) and it didn't help. This weekend I'll be swapping ballasts to see if the problem moves.

So I finally had a chance to take pictures of my new HIDs. Much thanks to Allen Fong. These lamps are currently at 10,000K. They look very stylish, but I am changing them to 6,000K in a week or so due to poor visibility. I spent a total of $62 including warning light eliminator from eBay.

hey guys, I purchased the 8k HID fog light kit for my w211 from Carlab (sonic motorsports).

Up until about 2 weeks ago my HID fogs where working perfectly.

Then I noticed the right side HID didn't turn on until maybe 5 seconds later. One day later, right side didn't come on at all. And other days it would come on for awhile then shut off.

Then yesterday, both HIDs didn't turn on. After playing around with the switch, only the right side turned on. Now its the left side fog light that isn't working!

Any ideas? Please help.

This was the biggest pain to put in on the driver side especially if you have front air bag suspension. The stupid compressor is in the way. I'm currently having the same problem as the above with my right side headlight bulb, which turns on then shuts off for about 5-10 seconds then works. It instanly sents a code that my right front headlight is out. I love the thin ballast kit that I have. They have worked well in the past for me but for some reason it's not going so well with this car. I'm going back to the shop I bought them from again they thought it was my bulb. Not so I changed the bulb with a new one and no go, so I'm thinking it's my ballast or warning code eliminator. We'll see but here's a pic with fogs done to.

I installed 6000k HID bulbs for the headlights and fog lights with no capicitor and they worked just fine. Some of you installed a capacitor. hmmm! I purchased my kit from a company down in garden grove, ca. I heard all the error code stories and he promised me they would work plug n play. The worked perfectly never received an error message and the look great. If its a cheap ballast you probably get the error message.

For those that purchase these kits on E-bay, some links to seller would be very helpful.

I purchase of set before, but my lights flickered too much so I gave them to a friend instead. Still in search of a decent HID kit that would work (plug and play) with my '06 W211.

Hi, thats us, I hope its ok with the mods that I reply to this post, not trying to sell here, I joined the forum and saw my company mentioned here. The reason you did not have any problems with computer errors is because our kits are 100% digital. Our kits do not need any capacitors, and we guarantee no errors. If anyone has HID related questions, you can PM me or post here and I would be more than happy to lend a helping hand.
Thanks

I have just installed a 6000k HID kit from http://stores.shop.ebay.com/HID-Outd...__W0QQ_armrsZ1 , it ran me 66$ with the 2 day delivery, error code canceller is included in the price, i did get a SLIM KIT and i am happy that I made that decision, I was able to install both sides in about 1hr 15 min and hide the ballast in the headlight housing. There is plenty of space to put all of your wires ballasts and the error canceler into the housing, so at this poit it looks like the car came stock with the hid lights, because there are not even signs of the aftermarket install there. I will be running it like this for a couple of days and will see how much heat is generated in the housing, but from the reading of the other posts, everyone who put the ballasts in the housing have no problems with it.

MTEC HID kit for W211

Hi
I recently bought a 2007 E350 and was very pleased with just about everything except the headlights. The halogen lights it came with just didnt look good and the brightness was worse than a cheap sedan (My teenage daughter has a Nissan Versa that has better headlights than the E350 halogen crap). I did a little research on various forums and came to the conclusion that the MTEC hid kits were probably the best on the market. I didnt want to buy a cheap kit and mess with adding a capacitor etc. I called a couple of local aftermarket installers and they advised me not to mess with the Mercedes electronics!. The dealers quoted over 1500 bucks to change the lights. So I took a bit of a gamble and was nervous when the MTEC guy said that the kit was designed for Mercedes! Honestly I didnt want to believe him. I made an offer of 250 for the kit with 4500K H7 bulbs and he shipped it in 2 days flat!. The kit looked decent with quality bulbs and harness and ballust thingy. After a careful review of everything I removed the OEM halogen bulb and bored a 1" hole in the dust cap. This is the only permanent change I had to make. The supplied rubber grommet fit perfectly into the hole sealing it completely and all the wires passed through this grommet well, pretty much water tight and fit in very well. The supplied bulbs fit in to the housing without any problem. I mounted the ballusts over the space available above the shocks. There are a few pre-existing holes that will allow placement of ballust with couple of nuts and bolts supplied with the kit. Didnt use the metal strap that was supplied as it was not needed. I routed the wires through an empty rubber grommet that was already in the car which had been unused!. After everything was done I went into the car and turned off all electronics inside including the climate control, main HU, audio and all the inside lights just to be on the safe side and turned on the headlights. The lights came on and it was beautiful. No flicker, no error message and it was white as an OEM Hid light. I then turned back on all electronic equipment and even put the headlight in auto mode... no problem. I have used it for couple days now and it runs great. The lights are in auto mode which means it comes on automatically and so far no errors whatsoever!. I love it so far. Will need to adjust the lights for proper aiming which will be done in the next few days.

Thanks to everyone who put great information on this forum regarding the HID kits. I just wanted to share the info. BTW I am a noob to this forum.

Arvindm, In your original post, you mention that you need to get your headlights adjusted. Why do you need to have them adjusted if everything fit in the original light sockets? I am really looking at making this investment. My stock lights suck.

I would really like to see some pictures if you can. You add the pictures below this posting screen. Click on the button for manage attachments. I have posted an example.

Thanks,

Ray
