CLK DTM for sale on ebay
Not affiliated, but since it's one of 100, I thought maybe someone here might be interested. Amazing car, makes a 63 BS look like child's play, can't believe it's not fetching more.

CLK 63 Black Series, 2009 S550, 2011 Range Rover Supercharged, BMW F800 GS Anniv Edition
the Black Series actually laps the 'Ring NINE SECONDS faster than the DTM.

As far as "looks", well, I personally think the DTM looks a bit overblown...

+1 Group buy, and since I am in Ft. Lauderdale I can pick it up for you guys.
This car might hold it's value better than a CLK 63 BS being 1 of 100.
I think I'll go check it out right now.

It was not wet, AFAIK. Yes, the DTM has more power....but with the DTM aero setup on a long track like the Nordschleife, it actually slows the car down. There are many other factors that have been discussed in the BS forum as to why the BS is faster. Of course, being such a limited prd vehicle, the DTM will be worth more in the long run. But who the hell knows...I think the CLK BS is one of the most under rated cars around and I think as time goes by, prices will start goin back up.

At Hockenheim (http://www.fastestlaps.com/track7.html) and at Oschersleben (http://www.fastestlaps.com/track11.html) the CLK-DTM has the faster time on record.

The CLK63 BS time was posted by DTM Series champion driver Bernd Schneider while the CLK-DTM time was posted by Sport Auto magazine. While I'm certain the S-A drivers are competent, they probably aren't in Bernd's league.

Agreed, but there is also the value that each car represents. Unless you just have money to burn, the BS is a much better overall value. Especially considering the current prices for slightly used Black Series...

That's what I was thinking, I am positive they aren't as good as Schneider, he's one of the best. I know the BS is an insane track car, but the DTM is too. If its just the aero drag too, I'm sure that could be adjusted. It would be cool to have someone like Walter Rohrl drive both back to back on the ring, and see what happens.
BTW, Schneider just retired from racing and is now an "ambassador" for AMG: http://www.emercedesbenz.com/Oct08/2...mbassador.html

The thing sticking out of the front bumper is simply the tow hook from the trunk that all our cars have. Either some moron thought it looked cool or they forgot to take it off after using it during transport. Unscrew, stick the tow hook cover back on the bumper, and it will be all pretty again.

I ran against the CLK DTM's in the AMG trophy cup at the Sachenring in my Black Series. My experience is primary not second or third hand internet conjecture.
Here's my take, the Clk63 BS is FASTER through the corners than the DTM's. The reason the KW suspension is superior to that on the DTM's. Coming out of the corners we were faster than the DTM's as we could put the power down sooner. The torque curve on an NA vehicle doesn't have the shock load that FI motor has in exit speed allowing the Black better grip. The DTM's power advantage was evident only at the very long straights and they lost that advantage coming out of the corners so we were overal faster. The modified DTM's were another story.
Like the BS the DTM's were designed to be bullet proof with track use in mind. I met one owner who had 30,000 km on his car all on the track with no problems. The value in these cars will eventually be recognized as Luke said. I think the DTM would make a nice addition to a collection given its mystique but comparing back to back the Black will win due to the more advanced development.

Very interesting. Thanks a lot. That must've been some great racing. I was thinking that the massive low end torque might've been an issue in corner exit. Interesting that they didn't decide to put a better suspension on the DTM.

I think that one major factor in the comparative performance between the DTM and BS must be tires. IIRC, the DTM had puny 225/35-19 size front tires compared to the 265/30-19 P-Zero Corsa tires on the front of the BS. That's a big difference in rubber.
