2004 Cl55 AMG
CL 55 ideal wheel offset
Just bought an Obsidian Black, 2004, CL55. My first set of repro AMG wheels had a 35 offset, which extended beyond the fender line. Unfortunately I learned too late that the rear axel width is wider for the Cl55 than the 500 or 600. For a staggered set, what is the best offset?

I own a 600, but I would say that 35 is not the right offset, the stock offset for 8.5" front wheel is 44 and the 9.5" rear is 46.
My Brabus setup is 40 front and 45 rear.
Look here for fitting chart

I am pretty certain the rear axle is the same for these cars, 35ET is just not the right offset
My Brabus setup is 40 front and 45 rear.

A good offset of 8.5" fronts and 9.5" rears appears to be +35.

Are you sure about that, all I have ever seen is that the CL65 is different.

cl55 offset
I am assuming your Brabus wheels fit great, inside the fender line? My trial with 35 offsets failed. Your car was the reason I bought Obsidian and bought the identical wheels that you used. Another thread on the forum gives the actual measurement of the CL600 versus Cl55 axle width.

If you use the same size 18" AMG wheel you need an Et44.I use this for my winter tires.
If you use staggered width 18" or 19"genuine AMG wheels you need Et44 front and Et46 rear. I use these wheels for my summer tires.
This info is in your OM and the MB wheel Accessory Catalog . Cl500, Cl600 and Cl65 have their own specs and unique wheels, as a rule.
Please use genuine AMg wheels on your AMG if you are actually going to drive it.

Offset
I have a 2005 CL55
19x8.5/Front, 19x9.5/Rear
Offset: 44/Front, 46/Rear
I want to put 20" wheels will the same offset be fine N does the width of the wheel matter?

Ofcourse it does. Changing the width of the wheel and leaving the offset the same makes the wheel sit differently. Same holds true if you leave your widths the same but change the offsets. They go hand in hand.

I'm assuming you are talking about the rears. If you are, I have no idea because I have a CL65 which has different sizes and offsets from the factory. Most of these guys won't even be able to tell you either as they will just call up the wheel company and they will send them wheels that fit. I use the word fit loosely. I guess it depends what look you are going for with your car.

Those will be cheap cast wheels expensive price tag. I'll give you all a secret about wheel companies. Quality wheels and cost don't go hand in hand. But they pull wool over your eyes. Just because all the high end cars are running them, doesn't mean the're good. I can almost bet that if you call up and as Maya what offset they offer, I bet you will have 2 or 3 choices. On being a +35, +42 and maybe one other. Also wheels faces are what clear the brakes. Most manufacter of wheels don't know your brake specs so even if you do buy those wheels, in the offsets that you need, they still might not be able to bolt on because they won't clear the brakes.
