2015 C63 AMG Unofficial Pics & Specs
As a car enthusiast I am excited about any performance car make regardless of whether it's an import or a domestic brand. With that being said, how excited are you about the upcoming C63 AMG? Will you buy this car is it comes with 4Matic only. As most of you probably already know, the upcoming C63 will come with a twin turbo 4.0 V8 that is said to be basically two A45 AMG 2.0T motors merged together. By looking at the kind of performance Audi is getting out of their 4.0TT engine I have no reason to not believe AMG will not only match, but exceed that performance.

Just as its rivals downsize to high-performance fours and sixes, AMG is reportedly working on a brand new V-8, albeit one smaller than we’re used to seeing from the official tuner to Mercedes-Benz.
The new engine is said to be a turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, destined for the upcoming 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG as well as a new SLC sports car.
According to Autocar, the engine is a further development of the new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder developed by AMG for its future compact car range. In the upcoming A45 AMG and CLA45 AMG models, this 2.0-liter mill will deliver more than 330 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The 4.0-liter V-8, meanwhile, should deliver more than 450 horsepower in its base form. Higher states of tune could see the engine pumping out closer to 600 horses!
It will replace the current naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V-8 found in the SLK55 AMG in AMG’s future, turbocharged engine hierarchy: the 2.0-liter forms the base and is followed by this new 4.0-liter V-8. Further up the ladder is the 5.5-liter V-8 and 6.0-liter V-12 found in a number of current AMG models.
Sadly, it looks like AMG's venerable 6.2-liter V-8 (pictured above) is on its way out.
If the report proves accurate, look for the 4.0-liter V-8 to debut in the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG due out next year.

I think the 600 horses will be reserved for the SLS model kind of like AMG does with it's M156 and M159 engines. I do believe that this engine will be underated if it comes in at 450. My guess is that is will dyno (dynojet) at least 420rwhp/rwtq when it first hits the streets. The big bad boy black series will probably come with well over 500 crank HP though.

I got that and know that this information has been out since before 12/12. That is why I said "As probably most of you know..." I said that because I know I wasn't posting anything ground breaking. I was just posting a thread to see what guys thought.

I think AMG will take BMW M3's numbers and just add another 50 Hp on top...whether they do it by a TT4.0V8 or by supercharging a 5.5. I know AMG will do it.
Expect at least 550 for the BS, if any.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I just hope it has the same low end torque our present beasts are housing. Although it was an old article, thanks to hotsoss for getting the conversation going

Hey no problem! I did not see much about it in past threads, so I figure I make a post to gauge everyone opinion. I think this engines torque will probably rated about the same, but I definitely think it will be tuned to deliver all of that torque at a much lower rpm like the M157 motor.

The answer to this "question" would love to be known by many people I guess....including me. Unfortunately, I don't think any one knows the answer, at the moment.....So, the question is I suppose, how long before we WILL know?
Cheers, Pickles.

Good point Pickles. This is all pure optimistic speculation and considering the official next gen C class hasn't even been officially introduced, I would say we probably won't know until Nov-Jan time frame when the 2014 car shows start up.

Lol...keep dreaming Timothy. The current V2 has 556 horses and the upcoming V3 will likely be in the 580-600 range stock. A GT500 is rated at an underated 662 horses. A stock 2015 C63 will not come anywhere near that power stock. With that being said, it will probably match or exceed the performance of a stock V2, especially if it has all wheel drive. Also, it will probably be a tuning monster like the M157 motor. If it responds anything like that motor than this car will be just as capable.

Having a TT V8 under the hood, instead of a Turbo'ed I-6 (future M3/M4) will definetely weight the options against BMW, at least here in the U.S. Why? V8's are part of american history, and the growl these engines have is unique, compared agains a V6/I6.

The future C63 will definitely have a displacement and cylinder adavantage over the rest of the direct competition that is switching to forced fed 6 cylinder engines. Also, like you said, you can't beat the sound of a V8 for exception of Lambo V10 and Ferrari/Lambo/Aston V12s.
1. ATS-V TT V6
2. M3 TT I-6
3. ISF ?
4. Audi ?
