I did. I think muffler delete may be too loud thinking of possibly like the magnaflow version of a cherry bomb but I haven't heard one yet

Can I mod and still keep stock tips?
I currently have and x pipe installed but I'm planning on removing the 2nd cats and replacing the stock mufflers with 11226. Most people also chose to replace the stock exhaust tips as well, but I LOVE the stock tips and definitely do NOT want to lose them. Is it possible to replace the muffler but keep the stock exhaust tips??

I recently did an xpipe and secondary cat delete on my 2013 c350 coupe. intial cold start up is really raspy and unpleasent for about 5 seconds then it drops back down. I havent seen this with any others on youtube and such.. not sure why my car does that intial raspy loud tone. thinking of putting the secondary cats back on, any advice?

Just curious, why do so many people refer to the resonators as secondary cats? They don't catalyze anything. They are just there to kind of tune the exhaust sound from the factory, no?

So the muffler shop close to me said they would do the second res delete and muffler upgrade for the 11226s for $300.. On the other hand, he also said that if I bought the mufflers elsewhere, he would charge me $90 for the installation. Thoughts? Where would I be able to find those exact mufflers for cheap?

Sounds about right, the mufflers will be around the same price wherever you go. I personally would go through your local muffler shop, and let them figure out the proper muffler configuration for you.

yea thats what I may end up doing, if I buy them elsewhere I might save a few bucks but at least through the shop its a little more trustworthy. Btw, are you fidel p on youtube?? lol

Anyone have experience / sound clips / pros cons on replacing the stock resonator and straight piping from there? Basically using 1 dual in dual out muffler instead of the resonator and forgoing dual mufflers at the axel.
During my research, I found a member make a post about it, but seems they never posted a sound clip. (https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...sion-pics.html). What piqued my interest was that I heard a clip of an IS350 with this type of set up and it sounded meaner then what I got from 2 axelbacks when I had the same vehicle.
Thanks for any input.

I'm using two #10416 mufflers. They're a straight through design so the exhaust flow is a lot less restricted. From your previous clips I want to say my exhaust is a bit deeper and aggressive.

Here's a sound clip:

Here's what it looks like now after I found the perfect exhaust tips to my liking:
Also you're telling me those secondary "cats" have no media inside them besides baffling? No sensors? If I remove them I won't get any malfunction lights?

These mufflers like almost all aftermarket mufflers are universal fit. Your muffler shop should be able to install these very easily. The only exhaust systems that are bolt on (meaning you can do it in your driveway yourself as it was built to your specific cars) are listed on the front page of this thread. They are very nice and sound great but are very expensive. Watch every youtube video you can to see what you like. Determine your budget and go from there.

Thought I'd share in case anyone could relate or finds this helpful. Been reading tirelessly on this forum and just started modding my exhaust and once again it all boils down to getting what you pay for.
Recently did the resonator delete (kept stock mufflers) and personally VERY disappointed. It doesn't sound bad generally speaking, but to my ears (and inside the cabin), sounds like any other modded v6... and cheap. Ironically, it was literally cheap because I just deleted the resonator! haha
I hoped by keeping the stock mufflers it would retain some of the "refined"? mercedes sound - if that's a thing. It sounds good while driving in triptronic mode (closer to manual) at mid RPM range because it can be controlled better, but obviously this isn't ideal just to make the exhaust note better. Lower RPMs - accelerating or in traffic - are not ideal at all.
I instantly purchased 2 Magnaflows (10416) to remedy the somewhat embarassing sound and will have them installed tomorrow.
In the past I've had an IS350 with factory F sport exhaust (which I wouldn't mind the C300 sounding closer to), S2000 and many other imports in my younger years. I think my expectation was higher because this was my first German car, which was probably me being naive.
Hopefully these magnaflows remedy the situation a bit or I might just need to put out for the eisenman.

I too just did a resonator and muffler delete on my w204. For all the people complaining about drone, add J pipes. Makes a huge difference. Drone is completely gone. If anyone is looking for straight through magnaflow mufflers, I am selling 2 with black powder coated quad tips. Thanks.
