c32 misfire

c32 misfire
just purchased a project C32 , which has several issues which i will be working through , but the cylinder 2 misfire is quite confusing. Car runs fine up to 3000rpm , but when the engines exceeds 3000rpm number 2 cylinder misfires and EML comes on and stays on . Stop the car and turn off ignition and misfire and EML is still present , if i disconnect battery for 15 minutes then restart everything is back to normal, At present i can run the car all day below 3000 revs with no issues , i have swapped coil packs and spark plugs between number 1 and number 2 cylinders , and no difference . So its not coil , plugs or leads , i am suspecting the injector unless anyone else can shed some light , OBD reader code is P0302 (cylinder 2 misfire) apologies for the long winded 1st post.

thanks for reply , its a 2002 , i have located a new black bosch injector , 0280 156 072 which is specified for the car , so will fit and see if this is the solution , the wiring looks ok , on coil pack and injector. If injector cures the problem , might be advisable to get the other 5 injectors cleaned after 162000 miles

Careful, could be a bad cam lobe. The earlier C32 had cams with pressed on lobes that will move over time. This can lead to a blown head gasket.

I did not want to bring up the cams yet but that is why I asked for the year for the car. 2002 and early 2003 models have the pressed on cams. They were replaced in 2003. Usually the cam issue happens with the first or last cylinder (1,3,4,6), and out of that cylinder #6 seems to be happening more often. But it can and has happened to any of the 6 cylinders.
But I have also helped a member here (c32used) with a similar misfire issue. After replacing the #3 injector the issue went away. So, try the injector. The cam is the worst possible problem since it can not be confirmed 100% until that bank of the engine is taken apart.

cam
stripping the top of the engine would be a last resort , the car has done 162000 miles , but the motor really is sweet , (a testament to the build quality of these engines) , i have just replaced the supercharger pulley bearing, changed supercharger oil and engine oil/filter and the engine is very smooth and quiet now. Today i went on a 200 mile round trip and after about 30 miles with the engine nicely warmed up the misfire did not occur , redlined the car and had no issues , and went up to some highly illegal speeds (on a private road of course ! Just sold a W211 E55k and the C32 is not far behind its got the same supercharged mid range grunt ,quite impressive) ,but it appears i could have a random misfire on cylinder number two when the engine is not up to temperature , scratching my head now , i will go ahead and fit the new injector ,but fairly sure it is a electrical/sensor fault rather than a mechanical issue.

Please help!!!
Hey guys I've got a c32 amg, cylinder 6 misfire won't go away! New plugs wires and coils, I pulled the fuel rail and confirmed the injector is good and I'm kind of stumped on what else it could Be! Really hoping it isn't the cam but the oil looks good and doesn't look like it's a head gasket, any help would be much appreciated!

I would start swapping injectors. Much cheaper/easier than pulling apart that side of the engine to confirm it's the cam.
