Inspection Failed again.
Gentlemen my C63 won't pass the emission test due to not being able to detect, connect, to my car "monitors not ready"
Catalyst
Oxygen Sensor
Heated Oxygen Sensor
I've called Mercedes and they said there wasn't anything that they could do. The only thing that will correct it is driving it around town not interstate. It has been tuned by Kleemann but I don't believe this to be the problem. Please advise me back as to any thoughts you may have on the matter.

If the tune is not set up correctly to set the redi-ness monitors then the car will not pass inspection through OBD2.
I believe the Kleemann tune can be set up to pass. Contact Cory at Kleemann and I think he will be able to look after you.

It may be a more recent discovery since you were originally tuned, but I know Cory and his tuner can set you up to pass now.

Everyone who said tune were correct. I just got off the phone with Cory and I am more than impressed with his desire to make things right. It's to long too get into but I've just got to pull the ECU and send it to him for a file change. One thing for sure is that Cory will be my go to man for any future work or advise.

For those about to rock - recommend you know exactly what the implications may be before modifying the ECU and TCU. When mine was modified the company was aware of the implications; however, they were not passed on the to owner. The previous owner (whom I know well) wasn't advised the company would bypass several sensors (catalyst, O2 and Heated O2) causing the car to fail State emissions should he ever need to have it tested (he didn't). However, where I live in the same State (VA) my county requires emission testing / compliance. Hence, me having to return the chips for remapping.
I guess it's good I found out about this before MB started replacing the car's computer (which they believed was faulty)...

Unfortunately in CA they are cracking down on the visual inspection. Even if you can pass the sniff test, the smog shop won't test your car if it has any visual modifications to any of the emissions system.

I guess I got lucky last year then. How exactly are they cracking down? I thought there was also something you could do by taking an identical car with you that was stock.

Not sure if it's hit Norcal yet. Many of he smog shops in Socal are owned by Vietnamese who have previously been very easy to deal with regarding visual inspections as long as you could pass the OBD2 and sniff test. Last year the State conducted a sting operation and the word spread really fast as the Vietnamese community is tight knit. Header and aftermarket cats are really easy to spot, so they just tell you they will not test your car, because they would have to send in a report that you failed the visual.
