C63 slams into the back of an SLS
Ouch!
News recently broke of an accident involving both a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Both cars were on track at Zhuhai International Circuit in Zhuhai, China with Journalists at the wheel. CarNewsChina reports that the driver of the SLS AMG got on the brakes far too early, coming to a stop before the corner, meaning that the driver of the C63 AMG plowed into the back of the supercar.
Nobody was injured in the accident, although we don’t think that these particular journalists will be writing about their experiences with the respective cars any time soon

Insurance in the US does not cover vehicle damage either. However you can get third party supplemental insurance for track days (usually a few hundred dollars a day).
However, this was a press event, and not a track day event, my guess is that all the vehicles were fully insured by Mercedes, or whichever company manages imports and sales of MB in China (China is a weird place when it comes to foreign companies selling stuff in China)
In this case, it was both drivers fault (or so the speculation is since this happened over the weekend and the car blogs/forums have blown up with DWA type jokes [yes that was my horrible addition to all the bad driving Asian joke stereotypes which are not totally true but still funny]). Apparently the SLS has awesome brakes.. either on.. or off.. very hard to modulate, and the C63 driver was following too closely and did not brake in time.

My guess is Mercedes will have to eat this pill. The journalists in question are probably invited by Mercedes to test the cars for publicity reasons and liability will rest with Mercedes for an event that they sponsor.
