bumper replacement
Hit and Run by some coward ... at least its just the bumper ... but just annoying to deal with.
What are my options ...
How good is a repaint?
Does the 2012 rear bumper fit a 2010?

It looks like it can be repaired, pic is a little rough.
Since it's a hit and run, you don't want to pay 1000+ for a new bumper and paint.
As for a repaint, find a good shop and you will be ok.
Not sure if new rear bumper will fit. I think i read that it would, don't quote me though.
Good luck

In Canada, u have to pay deductible on a hit & run.. Unless they catch the other driver. Depending on ur coverage, it could be 0$, 300$, 500$ or 1000$.. So it sometimes not worth claiming if the cost of repair is around ur deductible.
P.S It is very important to do a police report even u don't claim ur insurance. I've heard horrible stories of crooks hitting other cars & run.. And claim to the police u hit them (ur license plate), then u r in troubles.

Generally (at least in the US), you have uninsured motorist deductibles, which tend to be lower then your regular one (in my case, 200 vs $500 regular).
The main thing to take away, is that depending on your state and insurance company, is that if you claim uninsured motorist, or hit and run, while you do have to pay the lower deductible, your rates should not go up.
A full repaint (strip the old paint, not just a cheap paint over job) of the bumper would probably set you back around $1500.
I'm actually looking at getting my hood repainted, not from a douchebag hit and run, but rather the DC area roads are painful.. I have around 30 to 50 little paint chips from stones and stuff that are driving me nuts... I can see white through the grey...

If you were near me, I could recommend a couple of shops that do it for super cheap. I had my rear bumper and hood repainted and all my carbon bits clear coated for $800. The guy painted over the side markers and the tops of my mirrors for free.
