My exhaust is complete! Random Technology cats, straight pipes
Really love the sound of my exhaust. I'll record a cold start video and a driving video soon.
I have my MBH headers, 3" mids, and I deleted the X pipe and went with Random Tech 300 cell metallic core cats in 3".
From there it goes straight back to my SuperSprint mufflers.
The X made the tone too smooth and constant and with the 3" pipes, I felt as though I was losing low end torque that I had when I had mikes h-pipe.
Now my setup feels and sounds right. I have all that AMG grumble back, it's low, and it doesn't drone at all. On top of that, it doesn't stink! I feel like I have a lot more low and mid range power back due to the added backpressure.
Akrapovic is a smart company - they went no crossover all the way. Our cars in stock form have a tiny crossover in the resonator with an H. That really does nothing for performance. I put my 3" cats where the secondaries were and have it straight back after that.
There were a few people at the shop that heard the car startup and loved it.
Anyways, for those of you that want an X -
I have an MBH X pipe for sale. This mounts up to a 3" mid section. $200 picked up or $240 shipped.
Also my OEM mufflers are available for $600 picked up this week.

Nice job Anthony, look forward to the vids... Questions, seems like a pretty complicated set up. How did you come up with it, trial and error? Also, would you recommend a SS catback sys or a Meister slip on for my CLS63?

MBWorld Fanatic!
Well done! Trial and error (if you have the means to do it) is the best way to find out the right combo for our cars.
Quick question, if you got rid of the cats and replaced them with High Flow Resonators, do you think it would have achieved the same outcome?
A friend of mine had a full header back exhaust installed on his M3 and the Drone / raspiness was horrible. Instead of putting the cats back in, he put in High Flow Resonators. It toned it down but retained the killer sound at WOT.
looking forward to the videos!

Trial and error all the way. Found a good shop with stainless steel 309 and mandrel bending.....
I had:
MBH headers
Stock mids
H-pipe
Stock res
Stock mufflers
Then switched to
3" mids
3" x
Then deleted the resonator and dropped a 3" mandrel bent pipe to axel back.
Sounded good but eventually too loud and obnoxious. Smell was killing me.
Got supersprint mufflers on and the sound was nice but I could tell that the x was ruining things.
Pulled the X out and put in RT metallic cats plus straight pipes - perfect.
The sound is low and brutal. It's like stock sounding but deeper and louder. No drone at all. I love the burbling sound that it makes and the x got rid of it Entitrely.
Lots of complements on it thus far.
I filmed a couple videos.....just have to upload it.
