help needed plz!

so I have two problems I need help with!

1st - I have row air boxes installed with weistec high flow air filters and charcoal delete and ever since I got them installed (I made sure there was no leak or anything) my car is throwing a CEL code P0171 which mean running lean or air leak! im not sure on how to fix that!

2nd - im getting a loud whinning noise when I step on the accelerator as if I have a super charger installed! and honestly its scaring me I took it to my guy who works on all my cars hes saying it could be a water pump issue and that I may have to change the serpentine belt and also the tensioner pullys! I will try to get a video up so you guys can take a listen.. has anybody heard of this issue or anything?

thanks
durrani

check to see if your pass side airbox is installed properly.

1) for sure you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Check again your boxes are sitting properly, your MAFs are clean and installed properly.

2) difficult to say without a sound or video. Is it a whistling sound?
Did the sound just started right after you installed your boxes? Kind of odd the water pump would failed at the same time . Unless that noise was already there from the get go.

For the noise issue, check all pulleys after removing serpentine belt, the cheapo plastic MB pulleys are only good for so long , get noisy then seize, melting the plastic, which will throw the belt off and potentially destroy parts under the hood. Check for loose or pulleys that wobble, spin with your finger, those that spin for a long time should be replaced or monitored closely. Billet pulleys are the answer and peace of mind and the bearings are replaceable.

Pulley bearings my friend, you can almost hear the little bu**ers rattling around! Pull the belt an spin them by hand for sure, some will make a "whiz" sound when spun by hand.
Don't plan any highway runs until you replace them, check them out then order Weistec billet pulleys ASAP. The kit comes with five, some cars have 4 some 5, all in all you will have a spare pulley/bearing assembly. Easy to change and a good preventative measure for the rest of the 63 crowd. Don't leave home without them.

PS Be careful listening to your "guy" unless you wish to pay 800 dollars+ for a new waterpump/install or your car has 300,000 miles on it and actually needs a water pump. Just ask him how much to do the WP,

If it was the WP the pulley itself would show signs of movement plus would most likely be seeping coolant if the bearing was chewing itself up as the seal could not make up for the tolerance increase. Yes Alt too if high mileage, but the plastic pulleys usually go first and sound louder from being pressed into plastic.

Bearings of some sort... I had an alternator go bad with a similar noise, but you would be seeing other issues if it was that. I vote pulley.....

hmm okay so I ordered the water pump but im also ordering the pullys and new belt.. so im going to try and just change the bearings and pullys and belt to see if that fixs it then I suppose if that doesn't work ill go ahead and swap the WP.. then I guess if that doesn't work ill try the alternator.. but I have not seen any electrical issues or any dimming or anything and on the engineering menu the voltage looks perfectly fine to me which sits at 14.3v.. thanks for everyone chiming in though I really appreciate it!
