M.E.9.7AMG variant coding

Hi,

Would anyone on here be able to point out what the correct variant code version of the ME 9.7Amg is for a c63 with p31? Is it M156_VC13?

Thanks

How did you get the dealer to download code that doesn't match the VIN?

I've been told that code is only accessable via MB ag and does not reside at the dealer level
They download one vin specific package at a time
Can't store it and download to other vin's

Officially, you're right.

Unofficially, i believe there are three methods of possibly being able to do this. 1) Use a dealer account (for a fee) to request a vedoc change, and subsequent online scn coding reflecting the new vehicle options *this is arguably this least likely method to work, 2) Use a version of DAS that is enabled with development data/development mode and offline programing to update the variant coding version of the ME.9.7AMG, 3) Use Vediamo 5.05 to update/flash the ME.9.7AMG (no scn required) with the variant code version that you'd like to load (from what I recollect there were maybe 10-15 variant code versions available in the Vediamo database). I've just been playing around on my laptop, though haven't actually tried anything on the car and Vediamo has a database of all the variant codes for the m156 that are available but it's tough to figure out on first glance which one is which. I need to sit down and really go through all the variations in more depth to see what the differences are between them. Thought perhaps someone on here might already be familiar with the different versions and could confirm whether it was M156_VC13 or not, figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

^^^

if you figure it out I'm in and willing to pay
Can you use your tool to read the version from a 507, e63, etc ???

That would be the best way to 'tune' the c63
oem reliability, emissions and drivability

1) less likely yes, but best
2) where would you get the code? The ecu only contains 1 version?
3) sounds doable if the device database holds all versions?
Is the vediamo an MB oem tool? If not how did they get all the code?

exactly. it's a pretty cool tool. you can pretty much get access to all aspects of the modules/ecu's in the car.

as shardul mentioned, it's the engineering tool that mercedes (not the dealers) uses. from what i understand, if you have the full database which you can purchase or find online, then you don't need to download it off another car. you just have to know which version is the right one for say the 507, p31, black series, etc.

What multiplexer are you using with the Vediamo software? Does it work with the SD Connect C4? And, does it still require Star / Xentry or is it a stand-alone package?

Thank you - and to rmt52 for starting this. So far this has been the most promising thread on the subject of tuning. The real fun can finally begin... well, after the waranty runs out of course.

I believe that version 5 and up of vediamo only works with a c4 multiplexer. I have version 4.x and it works with my C3/part D multiplexer but version 5 does not. But that was a few months ago and somthing may have changed since then.

Does any body know if it is possible to code a TCU in a w211 E63 as a C63 to get throttle blip downshifts?

I don't know whether any of the pre-MCT cars did the throttle blip downshifts from the factory. AFAIK your W211 E63 uses the 7G-Tronic transmission with the torque converter (like the pre-facelift W204 C63), so if the OEM coding on the pre-facelift C63 does the throttle blip, you may be able to flash the TCU on the W211. You won't be able to put the TCU coding from an MCT to a torque-converter transmission car.

Eurocharged seems to have been able flash the TCU so that a ML63 can throttle blip, so it's possible. I'm not sure about whether or not this is possible using a multiplexer.

This is , but do you have any good sellers of a C4 multiplexer?

All c63's do throttle blipping and the 09 cls63 does it too and that is pretty much the same car as a E63.

Eurocharged did not do the TCU on the ml63. That was done by a place in germany. It costs $1000 and you have to send them you ecu and tcu. I asked Jerry if he could do it and he said no.

I think its possible with some creative flashing and scn programming with vediamo but i don't have the latest version or the appropriate files to go with it.

I recall someone mentioning about the guy from Germany doing the TCU. I thought he sold him the software to do it. The funny thing is, I saw Eurocharged advertising the TCU reflash for the throttle blip for $1500 and that did not include the cost of the tune.

I have an sd connect c4. As shardul mentioned it's standalone for version 5.05 at least.

I hope to have more details over the coming few weeks. I've been swamped with work before I head off on a trip overseas next week, but I'll probably be able to sit down and play with this more when I get back. I just figured if these modules are ever to be coded etc, the factory flash files for the different variants have to somehow be accessible in vediamo. Given that vediamo doesn't require scn to flash any of the modules since it's a mercedes engineering/development tool, I thought there had to be a way one could flash the ecu with a different variant file, it's just a matter of which one to pick. Regarding throttle response, Ive seen a how to video, to reprogram throttle response on base-c's on YouTube using DAS offline scn coding. I don't know if that would give the blip or not on the 63 though.

awesome, keep us updated. Id love to see what this software can do. Im wondering if this what renntech/brabus uses when they sway v12s in every chassis mb makes. any possibility for custom tuning/programming other than coding as parts from different vehicles?

Will do. As far as programming rather than just flashing a different variant, while I'm still getting familiar with the software and its capabilities, I don't see why that wouldnt be possible. But perhaps I'm wrong and someone already more familiar with the tool would be able to confirm that.

What we need to find out is what is the actual format of the tune files, i.e. what addresses in the file contolrs what actual parameter. I've done a fair bit of custom tuning for various 928 P-cars, but seeing as that's a relatively old vehicle, it essentially came down to manipulating the LH (fuel injection) ECU and the EZK (ignition) ECU table values, which was very easily accomplished with the tuning software itself (if anyone wants to have a look, Google "JDS SharkTuner"). I gather that Vediamo does not have a nice, user-friendly GUI like the SharkTuner where you can change whatever it is that you want to play with and then have it calculate the checksum and create the new ECU file. The GUI, however, is not essential (and would be realtively easy to create) once we know what represents what within the file itself. So - are there any ex-AMG engineers reading the thread that are no longer bound by confidentiality agreements and would be willing to share what's what within the ECU files?

RMT52 - if you already have the Vediamo software and database, can you send me just one of the ECU files by itself, for example the M156_VC13 that you mentioned earlier? Even the raw HEX code structure would likely hold some clues as to what's what.
