Can you guys be a little more specific about P-B-46.40/53?

I think I have the same problem but the dealer said the 2 lower balljoint was worn and making the noise and were replaced under warranty.

However the problem / noise still exist and I am in Toronto, Canada so I need something a little more specific so I can show it to my dealer and have them check that again!

Thank you very much in advance!

Just in time - thanks

Thanks for posting - Putting it to the test. I took delivery last week of my 2005 from the dealer and just emailed the salesman to see what has or has not been done. It will be very interesting to see what comes back. The dealership already failed the "certified check list" Were a some mirror things but the big one - the stop light bar on the truck was not working when they delivered the car. Have had no comments from the "delivery survey".

P-B-42.46/84 NOV07 SBC or battery fault message displayed in instrument cluster

211.026/065/070/076/265/276 VIN range A040665 up to A589444
211.082/083/282/283 VIN range X097815 up to X161341

This may be the result of damage to the engine or interior compartment wiring harness in the area of the auxiliary battery. The interior compartment wiring harness contains the supply line for the auxiliary battery relay. The engine and/or interior compartment wiring harness will be replaced.

P-B-07.16/80 NOV07 - 211.022/026 fuel loss at the pressure regulator valve (PRV) and/or poor engine running characteristics (shakes, knocks, surges, changes to limp mode, poor output, poor fuel economy, combustion noise) this may be caused by a malfunction at the PRV due to improper installation. The entire rail will be replaced; PRVs cannot be replaced individually due to possible imprecise installation processes in the workshop.

Thanks very much indeed for the excellent information. Is this just a TSB or a more serious recall?

Thanks again
Regards
John from a very cold, dark, Torquay

Hi John,

DTB, not a recall. Just added another DTB relative to diesels.

2019 E450 4Matic, 2018 E400 Coupe
Service Campaign 2007-100004

I just received a letter from my dealer regarding this recall. They mentioned that my 2006 4Matic may require the replacement of the transfer case. First, they have to remove the rear engine cover and check the serial number of the transfer case. If the serial number of the transfer case falls within a certain range, it will have to be replaced.

Anyone else receive this notice and/or have any info on this recall?

Thanks and Best Wishes for the Holiday Season.

Service Campaign 2007100004 DEC07 approximately 8,327 vehicles affected: 2005 and 2006 211 and 220 4MATIC; transfer case serial number range between 115925 and 137342 – optimized transfer cases will reduce vibrations when cornering or when parking. Have your dealer check VMI to see if your vehicle is included.

Steve, PM your email address if you want a copy.

Wow,

I don't even own a W211 yet but what a great help konigstiger is!

Tell me Mr Konigstiger with your infinite wisdom when looking for a 2003-2005 E320 or E500 with 30-50k miles which is a better car overall? They seem to be priced about the same. What I really want is a E320 Sport or E500 for the airmatic.

Thanks in advance.

“Mr. Konigstiger”? An aristocrat, anyway I would suggest you start a new thread with your question to get accurate hands-on feedback from those who own the model(s) of interest.

My 03 E320 just starting making a "thud" sound at low speeds on the passenger side front when I go over imperfections in the road. I am glad to see this possible solution. I'm due for my service in a few weeks and will have my dealer check it out then. Thanks for the post and the information!!!! It was driving me crazy

You may need to replace the upper ball joint as per DTB P-B-33.15/22.

Just had this happen to my car. Replace passenger ball joint, thrust arm and thrust arm bearing.

Bargained my dealer down to 650.00 including parts.

Hey Konigstiger, regarding this:

Service Campaign 2007010004 MAR07 – Models 211, 219, 221, 230, X164 (M273 engine, 550) Check intake manifold and replace if necessary; Install updated engine control module software. Running characteristics can be improved with the installation of a modified intake manifold. Additionally, updated engine control software will also be installed. Approximately 11,352 vehicles affected.

Manifold production date up to and including SEPT 30 2005, replace manifold.
Manifold production date between (and including) OCT 1 2005 and FEB 28 2006, install engine control module software.
I just took in my w211 2004 wagon (produced oct 2003) in for service and submitted the campaign number to the service rep. He didn't look up the number, but instead looked up the list of recalls, etc that come up with the vin number and said there weren't any open service bulletins. This one service campaign (2007010004 MAR07) was not on the list. Does that mean that my car doesn't need it? or is there some place they can check to see if it applies to my car? Sometimes my car's exhaust seems rough and I wonder if this is the problem...

This campaign is only applicable to the 550 engine therefore, your vehicle is not included. To date I am not aware of any DTBs for intermittent rough exhaust.

Thanks! I'm blind. I missed the "550" in the DTB.

I think it's the EGR valve. It was problematic before so I'll have them check that...

Thankfully I purchased the extended warranty! I have an appointment for this coming Tuesday. I'll post when I find out exactly what the problem is. Thanks for the information.

Service Campaign at MB Authorized service?

Read through and didn't see if the work must be done by a MB dealer or could it be done at any MB authorized service center? Got my car from a dealership that is authorized in MB, BMW etc.. I can call and check too but thought it could be good for the thread. Always great info.

First note Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire in other words MBUSA pays and there is no out of pocket for the owner. Having said this, a MB dealer should be the first choice. However, if one would rather have an independent perform the work make sure they do not charge for the inspection if they find the catalytic converters are not within production range for replacement. Furthermore although MBUSA authorized, each shop may have their own policy on performing recalls and/or service campaigns therefore, it would best to call to confirm.

Bluetec Campaign ???

My SA called me yesterday to come in for a couple of parts replacement. He said it was some exhaust flow thing or something, a new Campaign. I took it in today, they spent about 45 minutes while I waited. I asked the SA again; this time he said it was the two intake housings. Oh..OK. I was in a hurry and left.

At home I looked under the hood and engine cover. I could not tell what they replaced; I mean the car has always been spotless under the hood.

I would love to know if anyone knows about this new Campaign and details.

Is it possible it was Service Campaign 2007010004 MAR07?
When I took a closer look in bright sunshine today, I found the intake manifold clamp screws obviously had been removed and reinstalled; they had socket marks on the edges; they may have replaced the intake manifold.
