3.2 6 inline VS 3.0 V6 diesel engine
My '03 e270 automatic/elegance was stolen.
I think to get back w211 E-class.
I wonder between w211 3.2cdi inline 6-cylinder and 3.0 V6 cdi engine
What are the pros and cons, except that 3.0 has 224 horsepower, 3.2 inline - 204 hp.
Еmissions are not problem in my country, unfortunately.

I have a V-6 and the oil cooler seals WILL fail before 100k miles, that said, it is a long day fix for around $200 so you could use that to find one that is leaking and get a good deal. The oil cooler is in the V so both intake manifolds have to come off. Some of the motors in the Sprinter and MB vans have run over 500k miles without failure. Otherwise, like the previously posted, the I-6 is smooth, very reliable and have a long production run so parts will be readily available.

You are all for old i6 engine.
I thought that, newer engine, from '05, which is 3.0 CDI V6 is with new technology than old one. It produce more power, for lower engine volume.
I don't know anything about V6 engine reliability. What's common problem with this engine.

The om642 really only has one common issue as len said above. The seals have been upgraded but to get to them is a $1400 job at a dealer or a 20 hour DIY project (that's how long it took me and was $200 in parts)
I also had a timing chain stretch for some reason no clue why and that was a $2400 job.
The swirl motor fails but that can be fixed with a resistor for under a buck.
Even with the issues I love mine and you get a later model car which is always nice as usually means less issues.
