The first thing to check/replace are always sway bar links and bushings.

dont listen to dumb dumb. the first thing to do would actually be to remove the sway bar to eliminate it and the links from the equation...

If you pay people like cmriv >>> your wallet gets thinner.
Any mechanic who works on the cars, not on the keyboard can tell bad sway bar bushings or links in about 2 minutes.
If you DIY, drive the front on ramps and tap the links with small hammer or pry bar. Than push the bushing with pry bar. Any rattle is easy judgement. Too much movements on bushings as well.

Well those two are at it again. They both have merit, the real way to tell is to put the car on a lift and see if anything has play. Mine is doing it too and the standard suspects are the sway bar links, control arms, ball joints, tie rods, struts etc. I had a mechanic check it out and he felt those items were fine and it's most likely the sway bar link. I just went with Moog from Advance Auto, shipping was just a little faster than Rockauto which also has them. The price was about the same if you use a coupon code with Advance Auto. Moog has a lifetime warranty, and they were around $53 each, there are cheaper ones but they don't have the lifetime warranty. The definitive way is to disconnect the bar and see if the noise goes away, that narrows it down to the link and the bushings, but if you're going to disconnect it, you mind as well replace the links. There was another thread which mentioned that you had to buy whole bar in order to get the bushings as they didn't sell it separately, but maybe there's a 3rd party that does it now.

IF you disconnect links from sway bar and secure them to something that won't cause a noise while driving, you will eliminate the sway bar and links from the equation if noise is still present. If noise goes away then you need links or the bar. I think you would like to precisely know what's causing the noise before you just go buying parts right? Thought so.
and i'm not going to pay him any mind. I don't have time for his nonsense.

I have an 2003 E320. I'm getting the occasional creaking noise, almost like a rusty hinge. I was only hearing it at slow speeds while turning and it came from the driver side (left). I could also hear it if I pushed the car up and down on the front driver side. But for some reason it's intermittent and I haven't heard it in the last week or so.
I had both lower ball joints in the last three years replaced and I inspected them and they seem fine. Tie rods were also in good shape. I was suspected sway bar links/bushings as well but since it's stopped I haven't bothered checking...

It could be ball joints again, upper or lowers... or thrust arm joint. Not sure what suspension geometry you have based off 03 e320. how far have you driven since last ball joint replacement?

They were changed about 2 years apart. I believe the driver side is the older one from 2013. I don't think it has had more than 40,000km on it though.

It is possible they are noisy again depending on quality of parts. IF it makes a noise when you joust vehicle up and down i would go in the direction of another ball joint. One thing you could do is poke a hole in every joint that has a boot and spray some wd40 or penetrating oil in the boot until noise goes away, obviously doing one boot at a time. not a massive hole but something large enough to get a rattle can plastic tube in.

If it's the sway link bushings, would this be the correct bushing?

The last search I could find on this topic showed that bushings weren't made by themselves but i guess someone started manufacturing them.
