Windshield Stress fracture???????

So 4th of July holiday was nice except for this: Friday evening, drove my E350 4matic home- still love everything about the car. Nothing on windshield. On Saturday @ about 2pm I went outside (hot 97 degrees) and I see a 12 inch curvy crack starting from the top middle of the windshield.

Had the service manager look at it this morning- I think this should be covered under warranty. They took pics and want to run it by corporate. They claim they can "feel" a small dent (which is smaller than a pinhead). we'll see what happens.

Check with your insurance company as they usually are helpful with regards to glass repair.

In S.C., insurance company has to pay to replace windshields, regardless of size of break and with no deductible. They don't tell you this and other states may have same policies.

thanks for the info. Will check with Insurance Company to see what they say- may not help much as my deductible is $1000. I'm still waiting on dealer and getting price comparisons. Looks like windshield replacement may run me $900 or more. not happy about that

* You need to have comprehensive coverage, otherwise you are out of luck.
