2012 BT - No More "blue efficiency" - Badges Deleted
So I was not a huge fan of them in the first place and when I noticed the 2014 BT's don't have them, I got the courage to remove mine. Besides they were starting to show some wear. The blue area in the badge was getting kind of faded.
Tools:
1) Fishing line
2) heat gun
3) Goo Gone (or Goof Off)
Steps:
1) Heat the badge and surrounding fender area carefully. Be careful not to get the gun too close and don't over do it (nothing should be too hot to touch).
2) Place the fishing line behind the leading edge of the badge and using a slight back-and-forth sawing motion as you pull towards the rear.
3) After you have run the length of the badge it should fall off or may need to be gently lifted.
4) Pick away at the left over double-sided tape. Most of it should come off leaving an adhesive remnants in the shape of the badge.
5) Apply Goo Gone to the area to remove the residue and wipe off with clean towel. Wash and wax the area and you should be good to go.
6) Save them in case the next owner wants them back on the car.
Pics? It is a blank black fender. Just like 2014.

Will be doing this on my 2012 E550 Coupe. Do you think there will be any issues as the glue has had several years to set?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I did this last week without using any heat, and dental floss instead of fishing line. I also used rubbing alcohol instead of goo-gone. The blue-eff badges were the easiest badges I've ever removed, and the adhesive came off super easy too. My car was 3 years old when I did it and they cleaned just fine. I have a 550 so I added V8bitubo like an AMG has in their place.
